Its the largest centerfire rifle ever made.
He said its like firing (10) 30.06 at the same time....

Not to be a fudd, but what is the purpose of that cartridge? Shooting a big-ass gun is enough reason for me, but it must have been developed with a specific use in mind.

hey 1899......20mm is only 0.787401574804 cal ...so I was right you were wrong

Damm just read the 2nd line of your post....lol

All that effort into making it, and they are using what appears to be Grappling Iron tomount the scope  ... doesn't really inspire confidence, especially when they are making very clear mention to slowly close the bolt (assuming to prevent some sort of misfire)

There is no purpose for even owning that unless you’re hunting tanks.

How about, "I have the cash and the room in my safe."

Need and purpose are not yours to decide. If your reply was sarcasm, I took the bait. Otherwise, please f-off.

Well said, Canuck.

"Need" has nothing to do with it. Unless you're a fascist, that is.

I look at owning firearms in a more practical way. It’s just another piece of metal sitting in your safe. I have no idea what the rifle must cost but I would guess somewhere around $8000 - $10,000 and there are a lot more useable firearms that I would rather have than that. It’s not practical and even if I had millions of dollars to blow on anything I want, I would not buy that gun. Just think how much it must cost to shoot the stupid thing. I bet if you fired 20 rounds from that you could buy yourself a $1000 gun. I'm sorry I put it the way I did. I believe qualified people should be able to own whatever gun they want. But I see no reason why I would want such a stupid pointless gun.

Gentlemen, I did not want to have this devolve into anything regarding need/want or justification for owning a gun. I was merely asking what use the cartridge was initially designed for.
