98 mauser barrel on a 96?

Is there enough metal on a threaded 98 barrel to remove and rethread it for a 38/96 Swedish mauser action?These are short chambered as well........Harold

The pitch is the same, the diameter is larger. Can be done. I have picked up the thread on the lathe, and reduced the diameter to fit. Adjust for the proper clearance from boltface to breechface, finish the chamber. A '98 can breech up on the inner collar as well as on the face of the receiver, a '96 must breech on the barrel shoulder and face of the receiver.
