the rifle is a byf 44 (mauser 1944) that looks like it has been refinished.
all numbers are mismatched except the bolt shroud and safety which match each other. there is no SN on the barrel and it looks like a marking (nazi eagle?) may have been removed from the barrel prior to refinishing.
rather than the regular front sight hood it looks to have a VZ24 (from what i can tell from photos of VZ24's) sight protector.
the magazine follower is stamped with a "crown over R" or maybe a "K", hard to tell. the magazine floorplate is machined. and it has the capture screws, cleaning rod, etc.
it has a laminate stock with takedown disk and cupped buttplate both of which appear to be blued. the buttstock is also marked "MK-2". the only other marking on the stock seems to be a roman numeral X on the right hand cutout for the sling.
the bolt has been blued, even the boltface.
rifle is in excellent condition, *maybe* unfired since refinishing. blueing on boltface, feed ramp, and magazine follower is intact.
so..... is it, post WWII parts gun made up by the czechs? (it doesn't have the so-called "winter triggerguard") or someone else?
any ideas on value?
i can take and post pics if that would help with the ID.
