99/100

Great attitude !

There likely will be very little applause, but congrats all-round is to be expected. At many Clubs, it's also custom that your squad mates get to shoot your hat
tossed in the air following you're first straight ! If they're "on", you won't be wearing that hat any more. Keep a spare in the car/truck for incentive ! Remember to show a little humility ... 'cause your next coffee at Timmy's will still be at the regular price ! Even blind squirrels find a nut every now and then. ;)

All so very true!! Laugh2

My best blooper was missing the first bird out and running 99 straight I also missed my 100 th bird once have shot many 99"s also s view 100 straights never a 200 straight I think my best was 174

I have told this story many times but it never fails to still get a laugh. In my second year of shooting trap I attended a shoot at The Hamilton Gun Club at the invite from a bunch of guys from my home club of North Bay. A few years before that in my late teens I had lived in St. Catharines and shot a few rounds of skeet and worked a bit at the St.Catharines Gun Club. Well a fellow who had been an avid registered skeet shooter and and whose home club had been St.Catharines, had in the few years since I left there changed over to shooting registered trap. He was known as a rather bit of a big mouth and he was in attendance at Hamilton on that shoot I attended there with my buddies. It was a 200 singles race and I had posted a 199. We are sitting around shooting the breeze with some fellow shooters from the HAHA Club waiting on the final results when this fellow I mentioned from St.Catharines happens by and looks my way. I guess he recognized me from my days shooting a bit of skeet and picking up targets, setting machines etc. as a teenager but had no idea I had moved away and was there actually shooting the shoot in Hamilton. I think he figured I was working as a trap boy at the shoot. He sits beside me and starts shooting the breeze as one of my older buddies is looking on. He eventually comes around to talking about the shoot and says "have you seen the scoreboard?" I said "I haven't checked it the past 1/2 hour or so, why?" He says "can you believe some f#%*+^g redneck from North Bay is leading the high gun with a 199?!" I said "Really? What's his name?" He says "I'll go check". He comes back and says "his name is Frank _ _ _ _. I looked at him and held out my hand and said "Pleased to meet you!". Well if looks could kill I'd have been dead but without ever shaking my hand or congratulating me on the win, which I knew from his personality he wouldn't anyways he turned on his heels instantly and left without a word. As I watched him walking away laughing inside to myself my older buddy comes over and says "you sure put that loud mouth (name witheld) in his place and starts roaring with laughter which of course got me laughing too. I think my buddy and I laughed all the way back on the drive to North Bay that night!

I shot my first 99/100 at skeet 2 weeks ago. I missed one on my first round of the day on station 3 high. I then shot 75 straight ... felt like I couldn't miss. After while thinking about it ,I wondered how many times I smashed station 3 high over the years. At my club ,I run the skeet. So I'm always teaching a new guy, keeping track of who's paid and being the range officer. Also ... We have a great bunch of regulars with awesome senses of humor. It's hard to focus. My guns of choice lately have been a selection of sweet 20ga O/U's and a homemade 3/4 oz lite load.

Well congrats on the 75 straight! Some fine shooting.

Don"t shoot much skeet but man I find station 1 hi house a bugger.

I shot my first 100 straight today at skeet and I am pumped. I have blown a 100 several times. It was so cool today to have it all come together. This game is so much in your head. I have great guns, proven reloads and a decent amount of experience but usually I lose that focus you need.I did today with a 20ga. Now my quest is to do it with a 410.

Congratulations!! That is some fine shooting!!

The best I have ever done in registered is 96.

And I am super happy about it. I hope by the time I hit a 99, I will be as excited. I'm pretty sure I will.

There are no easy birds I figure - they always come from the same direction, at the same speed - so they must all be hard!

That is probably the reason I missed a low 7 this weekend that cost me a 50 straight.... yeah, I'm sure that's it. :).

Congratulations, great shooting!! You always remember your first. Remember, if it was easy everyone would be doing it and most of us who love a challenge would find something else.
