I was developing a 9mm load for my pistol last night. 125 gr LRN, Winchester SPP, Bullseye and Titegroup powder. Upon finishing 100 rds, I noticed a completed round with cracked casing. About 2.5 mm from the rim, within the base of the bullet as crimped. Is this safe to use? There is no crack around the rest of the casing.

Personally I would pull the bullet head out, dump the powder into the appropriate container, punch the primer to reuse and continue loading. Have a great day.

It's generally hard to track the number of shots fired through pistol casing, if you are using range brass, inspect them at each stage and toss suspect ones. This is why I like to polish my cases to nice gleam, really makes any flaws stand out. Generally a case that is done will split when you seat the bullet in it. If you plan on firing hot loads, then use only cases you are sure have only been fired once. With the economical loads the cases show their age in more benign ways.
