Ive got some 147gr fmjs and some plated 147s as well. I want to load them with 231, cuz thats what ive got a lot of but cant seem to find load data! Anyone have a reference or load for these bullets with 231?

win231 and hp38 are the same powder.

HP38 has a slightly faster burning rate than 231. How can it be the same powder?:rolleyes:

9mm 147 grain TMJ/FMJ head:
OAL = 1.115"
WSP primer
Win231 = 3.9 grains Min, 4.4 grains Max load

Load safely

FWIW HP38 IS 231 but it's blended from different lots of 231.

Very dirty.

I think you will find that 231 is too fast a powder for the 147.

I use 3.9gr/Unique with the 147. More of a push than a snap.

3.1g clays @ 1.095 oal is what i use. 130 pf. from a spo1. nice felt recoil and great accuracy. work up carefully with clays, pressure becomes a factor.

Wonder if anyone has any experience with "less" than the factory reccomendations for 147 fmj and 231? (147 gr fmj 3.9 MIN -4.3MAX - WIN 231).. my purpose is itty bitty holes (close together) in paper, at no more than 50 yards...

Thks

147Gr Xtreme Plated, Win Small Pistol, 5.2Gr of HS-6 seated to 1.135 for 890FPS or a PF of 130.5

That day was really cold at around 0 degrees C so I want to chrony them in warmer weather and see the difference. The load is good, nice and accurate, clean burning and not alot of powder left over. I also had good success with 3.5Gr's of Titegroup seated to 1.140, I never got out the chronograph for that one.

My 147gr over 3.6gr TiteGroup chrono'd at 859fps for a PF of 126273.
