9mm 1911 recommendations?

Thought I was clear. These were introduced 2 years ago (Jan/2011 according to a web article) and have been on the market for some time. Available for order at Questar if someone wants one.

Woah! Don't get yer panties in a knot. Nobody call'n ya a liar. Read you loud and clear. I guess you're not a "30 Rock" watcher and caught the "What the what" reference. Anywho, I misread the date on the 1911 forum. Yes, it was announced SHOT 2011 not 2012 as I thought but there was a thread dated in early 2012 saying that they have yet to hit the shelves. Threw me off 'cause I've only recently started looking at a 1911 in 9mm. Carry on.

Just trying to help the guys in the thread who are interested in this pistol. Sounds like you are the one that has a wedgie...

What the what, hilarious. Takes me back to the winter of '11 when the wife was cooped up with cabin fever and 5 seasons of that show. I spent a lot of that winter hiding in my shop.

For a 9mm 1911, I'm holding out for the hope of an old basic blue Series 70 Colt showing up on the ee. Not going to hold my breath, but if it pops up I'm on it.

No Joke, NP29 tuned by ARMCO. Every bit as good as some of the more pricier options. I extremely LOVE the NP29 as long as its been loved by Gunnar. For the money I saved from buying say a kimber or sti, I spent on extra mags and ammo. I've done a few classes with the NP29 and its a very good platform for skills and drills.

nothing but good things to say about my trojan so far

I say you always get what you pay for. From having about 30 pistols so far and trying out a lot more (as well as having owned some basic 9mm 1911s) I'd say figure out what your top budget is and spend that. You get what you pay for and you only cry once if you spend too much. If you plan to shoot IPSC there's Classic and Standard. A single stack 9mm for Classic makes sense. I like square trigger guards so factor in what your preference there is too. If you want a double stack 1911 9mm than for IPSC Standard it wouldn't make as much sense, for general shooting and perhaps 3gun/IDPA it might? It all depends on what it's being used for. I'd look on the EE for a purpose built 1911 9mm, i'd have faith that it would run as smooth as any factory gun. I really like STI's and SVI. I'd have no issue suggesting either (get the better ie more expensive models). STI Rangemaster is great at around $15-1600 from Freedom Venture but won't meet the rules for Classic.

LOL, that would explain the high-pitched voice at times. Well, be sure to post a review once you get it. I wouldn't mind owning another two or three Sig 1911 later on.

Not in the market for a 1911 in 9mm, but this is the Sig Match Elite that you can get in 9mm, (mine is a 45 and 2-Tone ). Got it during the "Sig Sale" for $1024, not the $1170 retail. STI seems to be the bang/buck winner in the 9mm 1911 category.

I was just going through this dilemma with the wife who wanted a 1911 but didn't want the recoil of the .45 so I got her the SAM enhanced stainless, still waiting on the transfer

Lol. Unfortunately that argument doesn't stand when punching holes into paper, maybe it matters when you shoot steel plates though. From a purely economic point of view, I see real value in a 1911 in 9mm, much cheaper than 45ACP.

yah, no one stirred the pot yet, so i thought i'd jump in!
i have five 9's as well, just dont get the chest thump that i love, but it is more fun than .22 and too many platforms to choose from(thats why i have 5, lol)
all my .45's are 1911s, it is a classic

ps
love your location yohan

Thanks!

Don't get me wrong, I love to punch steel with a .45

I'm a member of the league of uncompromising men, so I have one in most calibers as well.
