9mm 1911??

I could be mistaken but I under the impression that the Spartan was no longer available. ... You may have to go used if you are stuck on a Spartan or try something else.I 've been told great things about the SAM 1911's from Wolverene. I'm really happy with my Ruger although its a 45...

The new Colt Competition model in 9mm is worth a look. It'll need a magwell, but you can always get that later.

It it may be slightly over the limit, but could be a real contender in Classic Division.

Full size commander length ......

True to commander style, the Ranger II classic slide is 4.15″ in length with rear cocking serrations, flat top cut, oversize ejection port, chamfered fore end, STI front sight and Heinie fixed rear sight.

The Ranger II is built on STI’s government sized frame with hi-rise trigger guard and STIppled front strap. The grip includes a flat mainspring housing configuration to provide an excellent grip. The controls are an STI International single-sided blued thumb safety and STI high-rise blued, knuckle relief beavertail grip safety. The barrel is a 4.15″ fully supported STI ramped bull barrel.

I own a kimber 1911 in 9mm. It is in the same price range as what you are looking for. It has an ambidextruous oversided safety. It is accurate for me but will not use it in ipsc competition. It cannot compete against the ones I use for competition. Have fun shopping and take your time.

Whats the issue with using it for IPSC? Speed, accuracy...I'm not expecting to get into a high level of competition but I would like a pistol that will still keep me in the game.

I picked up a Sig Sauer 1911 Traditional Match Elite in Stainless for just over $1000 in 9mm and it works great.

the only two 1911 makers that i've shot that performed well right out of the box where STI and norinco. To be fair, the norc magazines where junk, but when i replaced them with wilsons it ran 100%. Kimbers can be iffy,S&W picky, colts down right , well, fill in the explitive.

I've not tried the springfield armories ones to have an opinion

I have been hearing a lot about the SAM pistols. They seem to be good guns that compare in fit and finish to higher end guns. I don't care about name brands, I care about quality. If I can get a quality 1911 for $650, sold.

wow! great price! One gun I would love to have someday. I know they're rare and usually over $1400. I was considering this recently, but chose a p226 equinox in .40 instead.
I already have a great 9mm, so I went with the p226.
did you buy it during at one of the year end sales?
