The only thing you need in a 1911 is a proper front sight of your choosing (fibre optic)and adjustable rear sight LPA sight. (Fitting in a box is an issue if you don't stricly use techwell magwells)
Sights can be changed. Finding the correct cut of 100 different cuts out of a dozen stores that none ship to canada.
Grip tape is better than any serration. Especially if shooting a level 3.
I shoot classic all over central and southern ontario. Thats my advice.
I use a springfield loaded target 40k rounds still locks up tight.
Springfield RO is my backup. New, but doesn't meet the workmanship of my older loaded target.
No complaints for a 1300 gun.
Anything in the 1000-1300 range will meet any requirment of a competition gun. Then you do your trigger, change magwell, mag release, pin beavertail and plaster tape all over it.
There is nothing wrong with a norinco if you can do your own work.

Not the best of choices. Seems more like he just wanted to be different!
Any 1911 will be fine. An sti dvc will not make you a better shooter. Just makes you look funny when you end up dead last
.There is no one choice. Just do not fall for this idea of 3dot sights etc... there are endless articles on de-cluttering your sight picture for faster and natural sight acquisition. sights are the hardest to source(they are doable...), everything else change out to meet YOUR comfort and fit.
I changed my loaded target front signt after months of sourcing the closest fitting cut and not spending 200$ +part on a 3rd party import. This was my learning experience. Then a friend encountered the same with s&w performance 1911 sights.
Practice with anything and you'll win your matches. Flipflops and Norinco included.

Flat nose loose inertia on the steep feed ramp. (Assuming it has a feed ramp)
Polish the feed ramp and grind down the leading edge into the chamber a Hair to adjust the feed angle.
Increase recoil spring weight for a few hundred rounds to break it in.
You can also increase the mag lips width to reduce feed angle.
I strickly use 147 rnfp campro and after these adjustments have never had a feed issue due to fp bullets.

Yes, Sigs are series 80 with the FP block BUT they are well made and you can hardly (if at all) notice it there. My Sig Target 1911 feels just as crisp as my RO which is a series 70. Tuned up, my Sig trigger breaks at a crisp 3.5lbs. My RO breaks at 3.75lbs.

I run a Kimber Custom II stainless in classic. I'm not dead last in my division. I use grip tape for my front strap. Never had a reliability issue. Kimber sells a magwell and VZ grips are a must. I have a set of Operator II with the bottom cut for the magwell and slimline on order. Should be nice when they are on.

Had the chance to handle ( no shooting)the SIG, was impressed with the slide/frame and bbl fit. It might need some trigger job. For$ 1400, very nice gun. If not mistaken the Trojan are going now around 2K. How's the feeding of the Sig, any preference with bullet profile?
Well MR.Op, you have alot of choice ahead of you. Don't bother with safteys, just go for a wide paddle or sheild(double tap)
Buy whatever floats your boat.
If it locks up tight, you'll have a shooter.
Personally, no sig or smith i've seen has locked up tight, but they still shoot straighter than any ipsc guy would need. My definition of tight literally means you have No movement between slide/frame with a closed chamber.
Sti is most popular by large in classic. What a springer RO is compared to an STI is absoultly F-all for an 700$ price difference.
No matter what, you'll do a trigger job to any 1911 unless you start at 2500+.
I'm sure the law of diminising returns occurs around the $1400 mark.
Sti, springfield and colt all make the Best frames in a 1200-2000 pricepoint.
Those are in my opinion your best value per dollar.
the SiG that I saw was on the $1400-1500 w/o taxes for me is a little High for the gun, considering a new tool steel match Sear/ Hammer, Wider Ambi Safety, ED Brown Grip Safety, and a Magwell are the add ons that I prefer. Who has the best price in Canada. Thanks

Shot a spartan for many years, did fine with it. Finally upgraded this year, got a DVC classic and other than a few minor things, very happy with the gun.
I'd buy a springfield and tune it to my liking if I was trying to spend less than $3k on the gun.
