9mm 1911's

When you go swapping sights, makes sure they are not too high so the gun can still fit in the box if you intend to shoot it for IPSC in standard or Classic.

if the want/ need is not immediate, why don't just start buying/ collecting the parts and ask Roger Kotanko to build one for you. mine took 18 months to finish, not because Roger is slow, its my wallet not deep enough to accumulate the parts. then you have the best parts on your gun and hand fitted.

In the more affordable range, I shoot the Rock Island Ultra FS, and it works just fine. Had to mill off the amby safety on the right side, since it really dug into my right knuckle, but, then again, I'm an old dude with oversize pre-arthritic knuckles. Other than that, A-OK. After the recommended 500 rnds of "break in", I haven't had a single malfunction as long as you use Dawson Precision or Wilson Combat mags (the two Mec-gars shipped with it stink). Comes IPSC-usable right out of the box. http://armscor.com/firearms/rock-series/rock-ultra-fs-9mm/

Have any pics? Thinking about shipping my colt competition to him

What impress me with his work is the way he fit the Slide/Frame and BBL, the 2011 9mm( red grip) is still with him, waiting for the transfer, its still bare metal, will keep it this way for another 6 months and have them cerakoted. primarily for 3 gun and maybe IPSC minor.
why red, its the only grip I can buy for $50.00 LOL
The 1911 45 - STI forge Frame n Slide, Kart Bbl, EGW and STI, SVI parts.
Same with Open, Basically its all EGW,SVI and some STI parts.

Did he checker the front strap on that 1911?

yes, as mentioned above he does all the fittings and sight cuts. there are shops who can cut and do some aesthetics/ slide lightening and exotic finish, but its only Rodger right now whom i know and tried that does slide/frame/bbl top notch. my opens are 10-12 yrs and seen a mininum of 20k rnds, the fit is still solid, no wiggle and still smooth. or you can ask Brandon of SVI, Akai, and other big name builders down south.

get a sti and never look back. i have a trojan and i love it, ive had it for about 6 years now and it quickly became my favourite pistol.
Thats another option, building one and select the parts will slmost cost the same, somtimes cost lesser. Like I said if the need is not immediate builing is a better option. Buy the parts as budget allows. Freedom V, Doubletapsports, Wanstall carry some parts, or BROWNELS.

How's Rogers' health these days?
He had a serious bout with the heart last year and last I heard he's back in the hospital.
Looking / hoping to hear some good news...
