Exactly what I did but forgot to have stirrups cuts, as per the IPSC Classic division requirements.
I sent the pistol yesterday to have the stirrups machined.

His back to work, same schedules, that is nights, he just finish my 2011 9 minor, still waiting for the transfer, give him a call, would highly appreciate it
 
If Rodger is back to work, i am tempted to buy a 2nd trojan and get a special Rodger mod.
Which involves chopping the frame at the grip, welding a SS heavy funnel in, has no gaps compared to these add-on magwells, and is pretty much scratch free too.
I don't know of any other gunsmith that would do this
Edit: This trojan i purchased used, previous user also used Rodgers services and got it how i like it.

I wouldn't mind doing that the only problem is it adds weight which brings my gun over the weight limit for single stack in USPSA.. :(
 
I don't cross the border, weight is not an issue and even prefered.
Which is why that trojan also sports a tungsten guide rod and a KKM bull barrel

I made a post in the pistol section which might help your decision. I bought a Dan Wesson PM-9 and although it is more money than the Springfields, it has more features from the factory and best of all, no MIM parts. All steel components. Very little left to work on as it comes in the box.
 
Great info on the thread. I am curious if anyone actually runs a norinco with parts changed out for competition? Maybe nobody wants to admit it haha. The 9mm 1911 has rejuvenated my interest is the platform. Always curious what the guys throwing mass amounts of ammo down range have to say.
 
Nothing wrong with a norinco that’s been tuned.
Rough around the edge’s but works.
As long as you have adjustable sights (for ease) and a barrel/bushing and lockup that is tight to create accuracy and a gun that functions flawlessly - your good to go.
The gear doesn’t make you a better shooter, it merely helps to boost your weak points.

Ignore everything i say about norinco, as I took nationals with a sti dvc :rolleyes:
 
I have run a few lbs of powder out of a Dlask 9mm 1911.

Works good mostly. It is fairly sensitive to the weight of the recoil spring though. It seems like slide velocity on a 9mm 1911 is problematic. The 9mm round just isn't suited as well as 45.

A person would want to change the recoil spring out on a regular basis.
 
There are 4 tuning issues with a 1911 in 9mm to make it cycle just right with your "special" load.

1 Recoil Spring.
2. Mainspring.
3. Extractor tension.
3. Angle on firing pin stop to disengage hammer.

Blend the four things together correctly and you'll have a sweet cycling gun.
Do it wrong and - well, that's one less guy I need to beat...:p

where can you get them in Canada?
 
Bulleye had those Dan Wesson "LASD" Specialists on sale for less than $1700, not sure if it's still a go. I've used mine a few times for IPSC, it's a pleasure to shoot.
