9mm 1911's

My brother just bought a Springfield Amory loaded S.S. used like N.IB.. It is a very nice gun, it even has a ramped barrel. I think it would make a great 9x23. You would not believe what he payed for it.

Para-Ordnance LDA double stack in 9mm,, yummy!

Are these ones still made in canada? and how much are they going for? I was going to order one last year but didn't bother... these days I have my sights get on geting a 1911

Here's my NP29 off a CGNer.
Well it started off as a bonestock NP29. I bought it off a CGN'er 2 years ago now, who said that it had problems feeding or cycling his ammo. I think I paid around 250 for the gun and 2 mags.

I ended up doing a polish job and general 1911 maintenance on it from various youtube and internet articles without even firing a shot. When I got to the feed ramp, I spent a couple of hours experimenting, and then decided, meh, I'll send it to Gunnar and git er done. While he had it, he tacticalized it, by removing the norc stuff leaving just the SN. he blasted it, and park'd it (I originally wanted a desert ghey finish, to match the SF45A from the CF para deal, but decided on black - yay for good judgment). I'm not exactly sure what he replaced and what he did. but Now it feeds HP's, FMJ, CMJ's, whatever fantastic. 100 for the norc job, 100 for the refinishing.

yes its starting to show wear, because I actually use the gun. For 3 gun and any other comps and classes, I prefer this over my G17. Grips are skinnier for my asian hands. I don't mind the 9+1 capacity, I just need more mags. Where to buy single stack 9mm mags for 1911? any ideas?

Also, even though the grip screws are in tight, there's still a bit of wiggle play in the grips themselves. how do I remedy this?

Well, 9mm STI Trojans need 'em, so any STI dealer should be able to get them right out of the wholesale catalogue, if they don't have some in hand already. From Freedom Ventures's price list:

1911 Government Length Magazine 9mm $40.76

No, they're not cheap. Hell, even Mec-Gars are pricey. But I don't recommend those at all.

I still say go STI Tactical in 9mm Commander length. It's all bizz. If that's out of your price range or Tacticool isn't your thing then buy up a STI Ranger or a Springfield before they are gone. Then post cool pics in the 1911 Picture Gallery for us to enjoy!

I never realized there are so many manufacturers of 9mm 1911's. I read all the posts in this thread everyday and research the pistols you guys recommend. I've learned a lot from the posts and the STI Tactical in 9mm Commander length grabs my attention the most right now!

A tiny o-ring, or, alternatively, a little bit of latex from an elastic band, very thin, cut and draped around the stock screw bushing, will compress between the frame and stock panel, allowing the panel to lay flat against the frame, and will eliminate that annoying wiggle.
