Hi, I've purchased my first pistol, a SIG P226 which should be arriving any day now. Just curious what others with this pistol are shooting as far as ammo, for accuracy & reliability. I've picked up 115 gr Wincherster (WinClean) and 147 gr Wincherster (Ranger) both FMJ, couple of boxes of each to try, as it was what was readily available.

Wondering about Federal, Wolf, Sellier & Bellot, Fiocchi, Remington as far as brands, and what gr. are you shooting....ammo that is sold bulk by a couple of the site sponsors and seems to be a decent price by 1000 lot.

Also, preferences regarding FMJ, JHP, ball, other?

Thanks for your input. I'm a complete newbie with pistols, though I've been shooting non-restricted for going on 35 yrs, so be gentle with me!:D

They all should work well or reasonably well with no issues thou some ammo will be dirtier than other. If you plan on reloading later, buy ammo with quality brass and save the brass.
Good brass is Federal, Rem, Win. Fiocchi and S&B have shorter brass and/or tight primer pockets and are not as easy or smooth in reloading. Reloaded ammo from reputable shops is usually of good quality too.

Ammo for Sig P226 9mm

Only ammo I wouldn't use again in my Sig is Wolf brand ammo - left my pistol barrel, breech and muzzle dirty and smelly. Other than that, any factory ammo is fine, including Fiocchi, Sellier & Bellot, Winchester, American Eagle/Federal etc.

You mean you still have another one besides the one you sold me?:D

Got my ATT today, as well as a couple of friendly invites to the range to do some shooting with some new friends....I'm looking forward to it.

BTW, how much of that fine 'mist' is still in the bottle?:)

Hi T,

Lol, yes I still have a Sig Elite .40 S&W and bought two additional drop-in barrels for it - .357 Sig and 9mm. Still have about a half bottle of the nectar of the gods left so I just might be asking you to send me a couple more in a little while. Hope your Sig shows up shortly. Cheers,

C

I have a whole bunch of SIG's, and they feed anything I throw at them. 15 year old reloads, don't ask, factory of all types, no problems. As for accuracy with the different ammo, can't tell, as I have more fun just making lots of noise as fast as possible.

Well my new Sig arrived today, thanks so much B.! It was obviously well cared for, and I am looking forward to putting some lead downrange this weekend. I am one happy camper today!:D

Left you the appropriate feedback on your trader rating, they didn't let me put a gold star up there though...lol.
