9mm Ammo preference (Sig P226)

My sig will eat anything I feed it.

Accuracy so far seems best with 124 JHP. I have not yet tried 147 grain.

I was shooting some UMC 115 grain and at 100m it was hitting a 3m diameter area. With 124JHP I was able to make shot after shot on a 12" gong at 100m.
 
I picked up a bunch of different types of ammo, will hopefully try some out tomorrow - 115gr 124gr and 147gr 9mm

I had bad luck with the 500 rounds of wolf TMJ I bought, maybe it was a bad batch but I'm trying other brands first
 
For some odd reason my 226 doesn't like Winchester. I get the odd failure to extract which causes a double feed malfunction. I switched to Remington and never had an issue since. Probably an extractor issue..
 
My 226 and wife's 239 have had zero problems with any factory ammo we have used. But we do both like the lighter recoil of the 147gn stuff.
 
Well, went out and put 250 rds through the Sig today....and I gotta say, I can hardly believe how fast that went!:eek:

115 gr Winchester was good, nice groups, but the 147 gr was better and nicer to shoot as well. no failures or jams, which is to be expected.

115 gr CCI Blasers, the shooting club was selling cheap. With good reason IMO. Poor accuracy compared to the Win stuff.

The only jams today were with my 12 yr old son, a little limp wristing going on there. His hands are almost but not quite as big as mine, and I think the recoil was maybe a bit much for him. He did well though, and when I squared him away on his grip, put him in a good Weaver stance he had no further problems.

Upshot of today's adventure? I really really really like my Sig P226!:D

Stripping and cleaning is a snap too! I can see this is going to cost me some coin for ammo though......went out to Barton's afterwards and bought 1000 rds of the Winchester 147gr.
 
my expieriance is some sigs don't like ammo with a cannalure(right term?)

as the primer is in just a hair further ........which makes light strikes at times
