9mm AR gun #### (ok lets see them)

Nice!!!

Are those hi cap Colt mags or MetalForm on the right? 5 rounds?
I know the little ones are 10

I'll have to go have a look, they are 5/32 .

I'm actually curious about the plastic full length mags. Where can I buy a couple of those?

Those are Rock River Arms pistol mags (10/30), I think you used to be able to get them at Questar.

So this was just trasfered to me, not even in the mail yet. I am a complete neophyte to the AR arena. There will be stupid questions...

First of which. Is that front sight removable?

When I'm not flat broke, what rail should I get for this thing? Not super fancy. Just want the option for toys and the far improved look of a rail system :) 12" barrel.

Thanks lads! I'm so excited to have an AR, and 9mm no less!! Time to cast a few more thousand projectiles!!

Oh! She's a Rock River Arms.

Very nice,
Yes, you can remove the front sight, no gas system on a 9mm.
If you're on a budget have a look at the ALG one on mine. I think it was $170 and came with two or three rail sections.
If you have any problems with it first thing to do is remove the BAD lever, they can cause problems on some rifles.

There are no stupid questions!!! This is why this forum exists. However do a little reading up on ARs. The 9mm is a very finicky AR.
As cr5 said you can remove it.
Odin works makes great cheap rails too, maybe a little more than ALG, but if the price is in USD then its the same.
This is the BAD lever:

But don't mess with that just yet....you might open pandora's box.

Welcome to the AR world. You my friend chose one that will either frustrate you or give you the desire to learn more sort of say. :)

Thank you so much :) appreciate the encouragement.

Before I went with the trade for the Rock River, I read that some folks had feeding issues with theirs. I asked the "seller" if he had had any said issues. He took it to the range and tested all the mags with a 100% pass. So I'm pretty sure I'll be good to go.

Pretty stoked to get it... then start !@#$*& with it!

Edit: He did not include the BAD lever in the deal... I hope pandora's box has not been opened!!

Nice buy!!!

No rear sight? I personally like the front sight as it is, a carrying handle/rear sight would be my choice. As for extra goodies try it out as is for a bit, you may like it as it sits. I like to keep things simple these days ( :d cheap), I've got a Colt Hbar upper on the way. Better still my LPK is sitting at Gateway, which means it will be here Tuesday!!!! I'll be hitting the range with it by Friday, Yahooo!!!!

I hear ya! My first thought was carry handle/sight. But then it just looks like it's trying to be something it's not (to me). But I will be keeping it cheap for a while! Flat broke right now! I will get a rail on her one day as I've never owned a red dot or any of that other fun stuff. Always been an iron sight guy.

Anyway, I can't wait to get her to the range either!! She will come with a Magpul backup sight luckily! :)

Enjoy the new rifle man!!! It was all french to me, but sounds sweeeeet!!!

ha:

Was sort of cryptic wasn't it...my lower parts kit and upper is all I have left to complete the rifle. Gateway is the big Canada Post Sorting plant in the Toronto area, so I'll have the LPK Tuesday, and there's a good chance I'll have my upper on the same day. I really wanted a 9mm, but I'm not swimming in cash either so it's going to do double duty, close up Carbine/Pistol, and out to 600 m when I get the chance to get up to the Ranges at CFB Petawawa.

^^^This, keep that look and carry handle rear sight is the way to go for your man!!!
And if it shoots good as it is....leave it alone.

Where do I buy one worth... buying :)

Cheers katazone! I can't wait to receive it and take nice pic of it for your gun #### thread and get it back on track! I'm sorry I derailed it!!! More 9mm AR's please!!!! :xes

Brownells has them, but they will set you back US $125ish plus shipping etc.. Since it's a 9mm and not going to be used at 500 m I'd give a Chinese one of the EE a go.

just need a few more small bits and than she will purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
