For the price of the upper, all the other parts I need, and the ease of getting this thing up and running, for the extra $200.00 or so dollars, It looks like I may just buy the complete RRA 9mm Carbine..........;) :D

-9mm upper - $999.00
-Mag Block - $250.00
-9mm Hammer - $28.00
-9mm buffer - $39.00
-Magazine - $50.00

Total = $1357.00 + tax

Complete 9mm Carbine W/ one mag = $1629.00 + Tax

For the extra $272.00 dollars I get another complete lower................and have a complete rifle thats ready to run............;)

Decisions.......................

Go big or go home. Might aswell get the complete gun as a stripped lower w/o parts kit is about 230 + parts kit, it seems like the $272 would of been worth it.

However, building your own gun IS fun. I'd go for the complete because then you have a 9MM and a .223 that you can use separately. Also for indoor handgun ranges you have a nice 'pistol' to use.

Its only money...

Going the complete route will leave me with a spare, complete ready to run Bushmaster lower.....................I can see another upper project coming up........ :p

stole all the pics from AR15.com

Do you know the angle they put on that?

I took my 10.5" RRA 9MM LAR-15 pistol out to the range tonight. This is a very fun gun. Was blasting steel targets from 25 - 40 yards and it was quite accurate. Any misses were completely my fault.

I wasn't sure how I'd like it, but I think it's gonna stay...

I vote for the complete gun. Multiple AR15s is a good thing. :)

I will generously give you $272 for your spare complete lower.:)

Looks like you might as well go for the complete gun. If you change the config at all than just sell your spare parts, or save them for that next build. This is biggest problem with spare parts, they end up costing me a ton of money when they transform into complete rifles, and then I'm out of spare parts.

On a side note, just picked up a Colt 2 piece mag block, anyone know of a smith that has experience installing these?

Skullboy,
I have a RRA 10.5" and it has run flawlessly, If you are ever interested in trying it out, I usually make it out to abby or mission once a week.
Wrench and I dumped a bunch of mags through it last night and I think I may be going out to abby tonight.

Angle of ramp is 5deg . Depth of ramp is about .125"

If you try to do it yourself be warned the RRA carrier / bolt is very hard . You really should use carbide end mill

Thanks for the info. I've got carbide, I don't think I'd waste a HSS on it. :D

Questar has a few of the RRA 10 round pistol mags that they held on to to sell with pistol purchases.I got one of those, plus ordered another 5/25 Uzi Mag.

I plan to get a few on the new stainless 10 round versions that are coming in.
