9mm AR Metal 5/32 Mags

the manufacture would need to be licensed for export and the us state department would have to allow it

i prefer the colt steel mags with the steel followers I have the 5/32 colt mags and the 5/20 rnd ones

I

steel block inside the magazine and a rivit thru the baseplate factory hole so the magazine cannot be taken apart

A metal block? How much does it weigh now? :)

Try a 1/8" dowel in the spine outside the spring and rivet the baseplate shut. Works for for both metal and polymer followers. I have seen polymer follower mags with a stick jammed into the bottom cavity of the follower.

Anything else but Colt 9mm SMG mags is futile.

sorry its actually alum flat 1/8 thick weighs nothing

I would think that 32s would have to be 5s unless specifically marked and/or imported under a specific documents that state pistol use.

I am curious, what is the need for the longer mag? Looks? Something else?

Looks and something to grab onto when changing mags.

CDNN is listing the Metalform mags for $30 a piece. Cheapest price you'll get for the original Colt OEM mags. Someone just needs to do a bulk purchase and have someone pin them for import. Of course the CProducts mags are cheaper than that and they are the new OEM supplier for Colt but I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on those mags so I figure why take the chance? I have a few original Colt mags and they've all been one hundred percent, need a new follower for one of them though, tab for the BHO is broken.

How does a bulk purchase work? Money up front to a dealer that is willing from a US company that is willing?

Re mod uzi mags...
I found this over at Ak47.net:
"I had my UZI mags done by RSE Enterprises in Mesa, AZ. Randy not only cuts the mag slot but will cut the back of the mag for the Colt bolt catch to work. "

That is the only reference I can find to modifying uzi mags for the bolt hold open. Does anyone know how this works?

It works by cutting a slot on the spine on the very top of the mag so the bolt catch leg protrudes into the magazine to make contact with the top of follower after the last round is expended.

A shooting colleague turned me onto this idea. It took me a few seconds to click in what he meant as it's one of those simple ideas that'll have you think why you didn't think of it yourself.

He mentioned some people thought he was a nut job and that it would not work with an Uzi mag. Probably thought it was too simple to wrap their head around the idea, that if this worked, someone else would have though of it already. I guess someone else did. Goes to prove old guys know stuff. :)

I once asked Canada Ammo if they could bring in cheap mags from Israel. We would need many voices. The hold open seems pretty straight forward. Dremel the back. I do wonder if a hold open follower can be used (I hear it may not) but the dimensions are there. I have converted pistol magazines to hold open in other pistol models by building up the follower with epoxy or a very small screw. Both work.

When I looked closely, I am thinking that epoxy 'could' work without the back cut, but it is pretty iffy. It's about 1/64" of contact. A longer arm, as stated, would (with the epoxy).
A is Questar mag; B is Uzi (see minimal contact); C is Uzi, Bushmaster, Questar.

Colt designed mag blocks (the pinned-in two piece type) use an extended 9mm bolt catch with a longer leg so when the last round is expended the Colt mag follower activates the catch leg to hold the bolt back. Modified uzi mags need a channel cut in the back for the bolt catch leg to contact the follower and hold the bolt open.

Aftermarket mag blocks use a standard 5.56 bolt catch in the lower and a transfer bar built into the mag block which contacts the follower. I think you would need a Colt two piece mag block and an extended bolt catch for the above Uzi idea to work.

We need an importer than can neuter them.

Too expensive, the same 20 rounders are available from CDNN for $20

They've had the 32s for $30 in the past but don't seem to have any in stock at the moment.

FYI Metalform are once again the OEM Colt supplier.

ETA, very difficult to add the BHO to Uzi mags, they're flat on the back whereas the Colt style mags have a groove on the spine where the tab that engages the BHO rides.
