9mm bullet length?

Curious question for you... The casing wall on the factory rounds look straight but the reloads appear to be smaller ID below where the bullet is seated (see pic in 1st post). Is this normal in reloads, or is the pic fooling me?

The "coke bottle" shape is pretty common.I get this with my re-loads and it's not an issue in my guns.
 
all my factory reloads from combat masters have been the same OAL as any factory ammo Ive ever got (quick visual, not measured with calipers)

If those reloads shoot like garbage though, I'd stop using them.... $16/box for reloads seems pretty expensive too
 
Is the OAL one of the variables you can adjust when working on a reload, or should it be left alone (as per the load data table).

What would over pressure signs look like in a 9mm reload?

What OAL would you use if you can't find an exact data table for the bullet being used? Have a table for the same weight, but different type ( using Cam Pro 115gr TMJ ).

A long OAL isn't a major concern in 9mm, a short OAL definitely is, because a bullet seated too deeply in the case can cause pressure issues. The shape of the bullet, it's weight and length all affect the safe OAL of the cartridge, I don't think you"ll have a problem with either of those loads. The "coke bottle" shape occurs because the bullet is held in place by the tension of the case walls. Lee makes a great die called the Factory Crimp Die that eliminates this issue by resizing the brass after seating, it's really cheap insurance for reloads.
