I came into possession of many hundreds of rounds of 9mm luger ammo, and don't have anything to shoot it with. I don't mind pistol shooting, but I hate having to go to the range, nothing against the range, I just like shooting in clearcuts. Is there some kind of little plinker gun I can get that shoots this pistol ammo? I haven't seen one, but then again I haven't been looking too hard either....

Something like a Beretta CX-4 Storm?

It would have to be many thousands of rounds to justify buying a gun just for this one situation. The Storm is up around $1300 to $1400.

Probably easier to sell it to a pistol shooter in your area and use the money to go buy ammo you can use in something you have already.

The CX4 is restricted so I'm pretty sure he'd have to go to the range to use it. Also, are the prices really that high now? Over $1000?

Oops, it slipped my mind that the Storm would be restricted. And the last one I saw for sale was listed as coming in at $1300. NOt sure what the model was or if it was something special or not. Just more advertising I saw in the flood of internet research I've been doing on this new hobby.

And yeah, a slick compact lever gun chambered for the 9mm or .40 would be a nice plinker or small to medium game hunting rifle I would think. And it would be more timely. After all aren't the present .357, .44, 45LC and other handgun caliber rifles based on the idea of using a common handgun round in both weapons? Given the modern predominance of self loading handguns in 9mm, .40S&W and .45ACT it would seem to make sense to produce a lever or similar in these easy to find and relatively cheap calibers to match an owners handgun.

You can get a non-restricted Storm for extra $450 or so, but again - now that I dealt with Stoeger warranty service I would opt for a Ruger even though I puke every time I look at them.

I'd definitely think about it in .40 or .45 acp as well, but I wouldn't want it for a big gun, I have one of those... Just a fun one kinda like a big rimfire-ish plinker.

I guess this almost already exist with the 38/357 and the .44RM and .45LC.. 9mm is just so cheap...

Can someone give an example of a rimless cartridge tube fed lever or pump rifle?

But I've seen a lot of tube magazine lever rifles in looking around. And those all hold round or pointy nosed CF rounds. Why are those any better?

Non-Restricted Ruger PC-9.

I finally found one and it is now my pride and joy.

Wasn't cheap but damn is this ever a fun gun. 10 round pistol mags, cheap 9mm ammo, non restricted, well made and fun to shoot.
