Hey guys. I've been reloading 9mm for a while now but just got me a nice new Sub2000 carbine and was wondering if anyone else has done any load work development to take advantage of the longer barrel. I finally just got a chrony so I'll be doing some of my own when the weather get a bit better. Just wondering if anyone has a place to start.

I load 124 gr Hornady XTP and 124 gr Gold Dots and I've got Unique, Tight Group and Blue Dot powders on hand.

I've read posts on other sites about this ad nausem and there seems to be nothing conclusive, just guesses mostly, and anyone that claims to have a great load for it wont share data

Ok.. I have tried the following in my Thureon Defense.

Hornady 124gr XTP - Titegroup 4.5gr (YES HOT)

Berry's 124gr - Titegroup 4.2gr

Berry's 124gr - Titegroup 3.4gr (YES CRAZY LIGHT)

Campro 147gr - Titegroup 3.4gr

All of those loads shot fine and were very accurate (25yards and 40 yards). I don't have a Chrony so I don't really know the numbers. I tried the HOT load as an experiment as my Thureon is rated for +P and I wanted to see how it would do. The light load I tried was an accident in reloading (those rounds were supposed to have 4.3gr) and I ended up with 500 of them. Since I had them, I wanted to see if the gun would perform any different. Nope shot just fine (got damn filthy though).

Based on my experience, I would think any suitable pistol load will be fine.
 
i load my 124 grain rounds to about 5.5 of unique, which is very hot but otherwise the guns action does not reliably function, my 9mm hand guns i load with only 4.7 grains of unique under a 124 grain bullet
 
Thanks for the info guys, I've put about 300 rounds threw it and I guess I shoulda said that. Tried 4 and 4.2 gr of Tightgroup, 5-5.6 of unique in .1 intervals and 7 gr Blue dot. 124 gr Berry plated hollow bottoms as well as the XTP and Gold dots. All of them worked fone but the brass was MUCH dirtier than when I put the same loads through a hand gun. I plan on using this thing next hunting season for smaller game so I'm looking for max velocity for a given bullet. Sounds like you guys are using what I've got kicking around but would still like some crony data if antone has it. Either way, I'll post my data when I get around to working up some loads.

With the blow back action of these things I'm just wondering how to adjust vs the hand guns.

Side note: For hand guns, I use 4 gr Tightgroup for my wifes SR9 and 5 - 5.2 gr Unique in my Xd-m. Have literally thousands of these laying around

Regardless of what I run in my sub2000, my brass is much dirtier when shooting it VS my S&W M&P.
 
I was thinking about hunting with my CX4 as well. I have never reloaded but a hotter load sounds like a good idea.
It will be interesting to see the fps difference in the long barrel.
Remington show a .44 mag at 1180 fps from a pistol & 1760 fps for the same round when fired from a rifle.
 
I would be interested to see what a powder like VV3N38 behind a 147gr would be like in a carbine... I have heard some very interesting chatter about power pistol thru the 9mm carbines as well...

Hmmmm i should check my Visa balance :D
