9mm carbines

I'm really leaning to the JR, I like the AR compatibility a lot. The next question is, standard or take down variant? I like the idea of the portability of the take down, but not so much the short sight radius. What are your experiences?

hmmm a cx4 or jr? I sold my semis years ago but I feel the need to get one of these little bastards lately with the 10 round mag.
I've been so damn busy I haven't been able to research much about these pea shooters, who makes a folding one?

Putting any optic on eliminates the sight radius issue.
Standard or take down really just depends on what you plan to do with it...
MY JR 9mm has been flawless though a couple thousand rounds.

Ive got at least 4000 rnds thru my jrc. Its been 100 percent reliable. Even when spending a week strapped on the front of my quad going down dusty roads and gravel pits.
Its a 9mm

You'll be happy with the JRC.
I really wanted to bring a Cx4 home, but the trigger in the one I shot was awful. And the short length of pu wasn't comfortable to me. Looking back at it I probably should have been more patient and gave it another try before dismissing it.

SFRC has the non-restricted JRC takedown in black for $999, just ordered one and a couple of Magpul mags for it - their 15% off Summer sale couldn't have come at a better time :dancingbanana: also found Hogue furniture and an ambi safety in FDE, a nice muzzle break and a suppressor wrap for the takedown tube. Will post pics once it's all together.

TNW survival is very light weight, and relatively easy to take down. 2 pins to separate lower half, and easy to unscrew the barrel. Only one FtF in approx 200 rounds so far. Probably the most compact option when it's taken down. And uses glock-azines.

BRS 99 is super compact, all steel construction, threaded barrel. Only downside is big, ugly iron sights and expensive 5 round mags ($80). And needs to be oiled generously

The picture of the marine jrc i posted was originally a take down model but you can install any ar hand guard you want. So might as well go take down because then you can go either way.

I'm looking for a non-restricted 9mm carbine for under $2000 new, looking for suggestions. I've shot the CX4, but my beard was always getting caught in the spaces in the stock, which is very annoying . I'd look at it again if there was a way around that. I recently shot a JR carbine with the Glock mag adapter. That was a fun little gun. Any others worth looking at?

Thanks Nutz.

All I gotta say is i just got back from a week camping in the bush, and brought along a new kel tec s2000 (9mm Glock mags)..... wow

Honestly probably one of the most fun firearms I have shot. It is compact (folds into a tight little package), light and surprisingly accurate. Like I mean real accurate with the iron sights. I was surprised.

So much fun, and I get to use all that extra 9mm I have and my g17 mags.

This is my first 9mm carbine after all... not really putting one up against another

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, I went with the JRC in 9mm and opted for the quad rail over the take down variant (Kudos to the good folks at SFRC for accommodating my waffling).

I've made a few changes and am still waiting to receive a 15" quad rail handguard, front and rear BUIS and a few other small pieces - QD sling mount, rail covers...

I just replaced the hand rail on my JRC, and here’s some advice.
You will almost certainly need a shim/crush washer between the new barrel nut and the barrel. My barrel was still loose when the barrel nut bottomed out, an issue that I’ve read others online have had. I McGiver’d a solution from a Canadian Tire brass crush washer (found in the automotive section), but i had to stretch it to make it work.

I’ve read a handful of threads saying that the crush washer from a VW transmission works well, but the posters failed to mention what year/model or type of transmission that we need for it to work. If someone has that info, please post it.

30mm od, 22mm ish id, 2mm thick should just about do it.

Go with a steel washer so it doesn't crush and deform between the barrel nut and barrel. Itll come loose eventually

i guys i hesitate between 2 9mm carabine , scorpion evo 3 and the news FREEDOM ORDNANCE FX-9 ??? whats your choice ??? i love the look of the scorpion but if i buy a glock the freedom is most interesting for the magazine .

id personally get the FX9, it takes glock mags... 10 rnds (unlike the evo 3's 5rnds) and its a lot more customizable. Ive handled both, and they are both comfortable, but the Evo 3's safety is very annoying as it sticks into your shooting hand.

I've owned 2 gen 1 Vectors in 45ACP and loved them, not sure why I sold them. Now I have a Gen 2 Vector in 9mm and love it. It's reliable and accurate and other than the lack of sling connection points I have no complaints.

I'm looking forward to seeing the FX-9 when they start to show up, I love my 9mm AR and the FX-9 looks to be the closest thing to an AR we can get right now as NR.

I've also owned a SUB-2000 which functioned fine once it had about 500 rounds through it but I sold that one off.
Owned an HK USC which in my opinion is the highest quality PCC we can buy but it's expensive and hard to fine them with non restricted barrels and I think they discontinued them. Mags are also expensive and limited to 5 which is a downer.
Shot a few others as well but the Vector and the AR are the only ones that I've kept in the collection.
