hello,
I asked for you opinion regarding 9mm conversion to 38supr a few days ago, this time need you feedback 9mm to 9X23, all your inputs are welcome, from brass availiability to loads, thanks again, Plan to convert a STI STINGER IN 9MM to 9X23

I think a better idea is to just fit a new 9x23 barrel then you can shoot 9mm and9x23 whenever you want. I have a Nolan top end on my STI in 9x23 and i got sick of looking for the brass. So i got a 9mm for pratice and fitted a comp that was not very efficient so that the bounce felt the same. Works great and dont have to worry about losing brass.I load the 9mm long and never had a prodlem feeding.

OK, for what it's worth, WHY?

If you are going to shoot IPSC Open division, I would suggest starting with a different gun. As it is, the Stinger is a nice piece, and 9mm is a nice caliber on it's own.

Well I do agree that the Stinger might not be the perfect gun....but I started open with one.....got B class in canada with it...and A in NS, now I'm shooting 38 SC and I can't compare performance between the 2 guns because there will be a difference between a factory and custom gun.....

I shoot mine in 9x19mm not perfect but it work....sometime ;) my main problem was extraction...even with the aftec..now I intend to use it for steel load...work's well with minor/factory loads...:p

Personally I believed that the 9mm beat the gun too much....in 25k of ammo (major) I when through 3 recoil master, 1 scope mount, 1 slide, 1 scope....thanks Freedom Venture for outstanding warranty service.

Just in case there's no way to utilise the 5" recoil master in this gun because the bottom of the compensator doesn't have enough material to machine the space required.....you can't cut the comp off and installed another one either because the gun would become prohibited......(barrel less then 4" without the comp):D

I also don't believed that 9x23 would be any better.....one guy that had 38 Super was any more successful with his!
