Hello everyone,

I'm new to the thread here. My name (as seen) is Jesse and I'm relatively new to Restricted firearms. I've always been a waterfowler, multiple 12ga type of guy but all guns in general just fascinate me and I've always had the passion. I purchased a S&W 686.7 model last year as my first restricted purchase, but as you know, even if you drop down to using .38 special, the price of ammo is still up there.

I want an all around great 9mm. Nothing on the smaller side like the Glock models, I do prefer the larger sized pistols like the Beretta 92FS (made in Italy). I have larger hands so I naturally conform to a larger handgun, hence why I bought my S&W. Anyone out there like their 92FS? Any others to refer, such as the CZ75? I'm just having difficulty with this.

All in all, I chose 9mm because the price point on ammo is much lower and it's still a fun gun to shoot. I definitely don't want to spend more than $700-800 MAXIMUM, taxes in so if anyone can chime in on this, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, everyone. ;)

I have big hands too and love the sig p226. It's a bit out of your price range so maybe the norinco clone of the p226. My other favorite 9 is the m&p 9

Jericho might be worth a look for you. Well built and under your price point, steel or polymer frame. If you're a wheel gun fan the Alfa Proj 9mm revolver is affordable and intriguing. I have an M&P 40 S&W, very reliable gun too if that tickles your fancy in 9mm.

I'd worry a little less about spending on the firearm in the long run get what you like and shoot well.. the ammo will be the issue cost wise..

I have a Beretta 92 FS made in Italy and a Sig p226. Both are great shooting pistols and fit my hand really well. If you are looking at putting lots of rounds through these or getting into competition I would go for the real thing, If you just want one to do some weekend plinking the Norc or Taurus might be a better option.

Go to a local Range and try the ones you think you would like you will learn a lot. I went with a ruger sr9 because it was cheep. Nice gun but did not perform as well as I thought. I now have a CZ 75 SP01 shadow. Its a million times better. I wanted it in the beginning should have just saved. Now I have spent 550.00 + 750.00= $1300.00 all in. I could have just saved and got the CZ first and saved $550.00.

Just my thoughts.

Beretta 92 is good, I think changing sights is hard on some models????? CZ with the factory rubber grips is good, what about the SAM's 1911's do they have a double stack 9mm? It would be a larger grip. Any large tupperwear gun with interchangeable backstraps should fit I would think.

In my 9's I have a Ruger SR9 and a Taurus 24/7G2. Both fantastic, great feeling with no issues at all. Taurus has a lifetime warranty on the gun, no matter who owns it and the Ruger I am not to sure how long it is. Both guns come in around the $500.00 and are great buys. They are not the most popular handguns, but, you don't have to be popular and $$$ to be good ! Have fun with your search.

I love my cz 75 sp-01 shadow and my Jericho 941 both in 9mm both have a nice weight to them and steel fames.

For the price range you quoted I would strongly recommend the CZ 75/85 line of pistols. I bought a lightly used 75B last month for $525 shipped. The gun was as new. I saw an 85 Combat 2013 model go for $550. not long ago. These guns represent outstanding value. They are dead nuts reliable, accurate and durable. Add a 13# mainspring to the cost and you have a real shooter capable of excellent accuracy. They will last a lifetime.

The CZ 7585 will serve you as well as any gun mentioned at a price point that is very attractive. The line will do everything the Glock/M&P will do and likely for a much longer period of time. The do well in competitions and equally well as range warriors.

I compete with the M&P when I am not shooting revolvers but find myself going back to my CZ's all the time.

I owned many pistols. I used a few at work.

After the years I sold everything except my Sig P226 9mm and M&P 9mm. If that means anything. IDK...

It just happened naturally.

Look around the sponsor grid above from time to time for a new M&P9 range kit as they come on sale for $549.99, can't beat the value. After you get comfortable with it you can upgrade the trigger with an Apex (costs a tad over $200).

If you are thinking steel vs polymer you might also want to look at a Browning Hi-Power . I have fairly large hands and like the fit of mine.

Ditto. they fit my hand and shoot great for me too. A Browning Hi-power might be a wee bit more cash than the OP would like to drop on a pistol though. I just picked up a FEG clone of the BHP though and it feels and shoots just about as good as the real deal, is mostly parts-compatible, and is a fraction of the price.
that is my two cents anyway.

Good Day

I chose an all steel Jericho in 9mm, came with three mags and a holster and mag pouch
Awesome Pistol, fit my hand so well I had to buy it.
