Does anyone have experience running 9mm in .40 Glock mags? I have a number of .40 mags kicking around that I'm considering either selling or re-purposing for use in my 19X and 9mm carbine. I know mileage may vary so testing myself would be best, but I don't see myself getting back to the range to test for a month or more. What have your experiences been like?

Thanks in advance.

I haven’t experienced any feeding issues yet with mine but the feed lips barely hang on to the 9mm rounds and I can only usually get 12 in, sometimes 11 if you look at that 12th round funny and it pops out on you.

Thanks for the feedback. From what I've read, it seems like some other platforms may be more conducive to running 9mm out of a .40 mag. Is that because you can bend the lips on metal mags to prevent rounds from popping out?

Works well in SIGs and Berettas, but problematic in most Glocks. Mine started to puke out the 9mm after only a few rounds and were not reliable at all. Not worth the effort.

My findings echo the above, might work but the rounds are barely retained and certainly no good to carry mag pouches. Not worth the hassle.

I never had problems with my g27 with conversion barrel. I only got maybe 500rds before selling but 9mm ammo worked without issue. Maybe had 2 failure to feeds during those 500rds. That also only happened during mag dumps.

I now have no concerns about buying 40sw mags to use in my g19. Whatever mags i can get cheaper.

I have a few different generations of G23 mags. Some work (sort of) in my G19's, others not at all. Not reliable enough to bother for the two extra rounds.

Auggie D.
