I've had good experience with Norc 1911's in 9mm.

I like my older generation NP-29 other than its minuscule military style sights. The Crimson Trace laser grips help especially in low light.

It has been as reliable as my GLOCK 17 with both ball and HP.

Got my frame ready for bead blasting and parkerizing. I think I'm going to just use grip tape on the front strap this time. The metal looks thick enough, but I'm not sure my eyes are up to the task of checkering by hand. I almost removed the serial number, it sure isn't stamped very deep. The made in china disappeared completely. I've got a couple parkerizing solutions to try, so I think I might go for a light grey frame with dark grey controls and slide. Either that or leave the slide alone and re-blue the controls.

My favourite, Norinco stew. A bit chewy though.

I'll post up finished pics later. The light grey on the frame turned out darker than I had hoped, so I might blast it again and redo it. I'll decide after I see how it looks.

Anyone tried the Tangfolio Witness 1911 in 9mm? That looks like it could be a solid option if it’s built similarly to their more expensive pistols.

I didn't shoot it, but I handled one of their cheaper ones. Not sure what model it was, but it was somewhere around $1000 last summer. I wasn't very impressed, the fit didn't seem any better than some of my Norinco's. Little things like the thumb safety hanging past the frame a bit, beavertail thumb safety poorly fitted to the frame, finish wasn't overly nice.
