Does anyone have a good recipe for 9mm ipsc loads ? I'm trying to reduce recoil and muzzle jump in my glock 17 . And what recoil spring would you use ? They range from 12 to 24 pounds in weight. I have tried a 24 pound spring and it doesn't reduce the muzzle jump or recoil by much.

First of all, swapping out recoil springs from factory standard would take you out of Production Division.....

.....The rule of thumb for the least perceived recoil in a 'non-compensated' gun is the heaviest bullet with the fastest powder (the opposite is true for compensated guns). That being said, for 9 mm I use 147 gr FMJs over 3.6 gr of VV N320 for approx 880 FPS and approx 130 PF..... very mild recoiling load...

Light recoil springs are the way to go if your gun will function. 8 to 10 lbs feel great if your gun will run. 147gr bullets seem to be the way to go.

I don't know how long you've been shooting your glock but ... I am new to the 17 as well, been shooting revolvers before that. What a change in muzzle flip! I found after shooting a thousand rounds or so through it the muzzle flip doesn't seem so bad. I would go for the 147gr and a light powder charge though. Good luck.

yeah, but that was chrono's fault. The ammo is factory loaded to generate about 137pf, and that's what I've been getting for about 1.5 years. Then, all of the sudden, at a couple of matches, with the same chrono crew, it falls down to 125, with dozens of other people complaining that their ammo was coming in much lower than it always did? ... I donno... might be coincidence...

What is the usual power factor for 115gr 9mm? I am using Federal FMJ 9mm in a Walther P99 (if that affects anything)
