Greetings All;

Been reloading for a some time now but just starting on the 9MM. Anyone using the 9MM 124G Aim Projectile with Winchester 231. I am using 231 in my 45ACP loads and quite like the performance. In addition I am interested in the COL using this Aim bullet. I have the several loading manuals here but no loads that would directly translate to the Aim bullet.

Thanks,

JJ

I searched for threads like this and had no luck, Oh Well.....

Thanks for the point, its excellent and just the starting place I was looking for. I have had good results with Aim 45 230g so am expecting the same in 9MM. Will use these to do a workup with my Glock, it will be interesting to see if we get close to the same results.

I use the Berry's 124gr with 4.3gr W231, and I used the Campro 124 bullet before that. I've always figured the weight is the weight is the weight regardless of brand.

I am using 124 gr Berry's HBRN which is a little longer than most RN.

In my CZ85 I load them to 1.15" OAL, CCI500 primers. With 4gr W231 I average 945fps and with 4.3gr W231 I average 1020fps. W231 is not the best powder if you want max velocity but I find it very easy to work with/meters well in the autodisk.

Bullets of different design and the same weight will affect pressure because of their varying length and how much case capacity they use, especially in a small cased, higher pressure pistol cartridge like a 9mm. Much of the time this wont be an issue until you approach higher end loads BUT be aware of it. 9mm can be quite sensitive to different OAL/case capacity changes. For example I have had light loads that would not cycle the Glock action reliably due to lower pressure. The same load/bullet seated 1.5mm deeper cycled the action consistently as the pressure increased.
