got some 147 gr cast bullets just looking for col lyman says 1.058 but it seems to short it is way past ring on bullet is that a crimp ring or just a ring to hold lube

I would start by confirming you bullet was cast from lyman cast #356637 with .356" dia. If not then it will have different COL. All my books state max COAL as 1.169, but each bullet generally has a designed COL.

If you want to load it to a longer COL, go for it... As long as it fits in the mag you are good to go... Lenghtening COL is not going to raise your pressure, as long as your bullet isn't getting jammed into the rifling upon chambering... The 140 gr cast SWC I shoot in 9mm are loaded to a COL of 1.095"
Bullets should be seated so that all lube grooves are hidden inside the case. 9mm bullets do not have "crimp grooves". Apart from that, use your gun barrel to test the OAL. Make the OAL as long as you can without them getting stuck in the barrel when you press them into the chamber. If they seat fully on the case mouth, they should drop freely.
