9mm +P in an NP22

Normally I shoot fairly light 115gr. 9mm in my NP22 but I wouldn't mind trying something a little hotter.

Has anybody ran any +P in a Norinco and had it survive????

I wouldn't do it. It will greatly shorten the life span of your gun. I think it took about 10K-12K of 115gr to break mine, but others, using hotter ammo, reported breaks at the 2K-3K level.

The German made SIG's 226 don't like anything stronger than Nato loadings,
and they better be 115 gr. bullets too. Same for Norinco P22.
My German made 226 literally fell slowly apart after 8000 rounds of mostly
cast 125 gr.bullets at no more than 1100 fps.
Breachblock pin broke. Right frame rail cracked. Factory replaced it. Finally a vertical crack on the left side of the ejection port. A useless gun now.
I ordered a Norinco P 22, miked all the parts ,checked for interchangeability
extraordinary close tolerances like the German one, fit on each other perfectly.
The Chinese sure know how to use CNC machines second to none it seems.
I fired now 5000 rounds last year and still in perfect condition. I am impressed.
Now I am trying to get a Norinco slide only to replace the one on my P 226.
I have full confidence in Chinese made P22 but also would not fire + P ammo,
no need anyway if one shoots a lot and is very good with it.

My NP 22 frame broke at 2,000 rds of mixed 115,124,147 gr, nothing wrong with the slide. I would buy another one if it was all steel.

+ P means "+ pressure". It is a round loaded to a higher than standard pressure to increase velocity.

Yes indeed. If you wish higher velocity only, please try 90 gr.
jacketed bullets (Hollow Points -Sierra bullets) and loaded
with 5.2 gr. Bullseye powder .
It will give you 1375 fps.and still within save pressure (limit) and
gave me astonishing accuracy firing very fast at about 17 meters distance.

I can not duplicate this performance with any other bullet weight.
At 10 Meters slow fire with support gave me a 1 inch group with 10 shots.

You seem to have had a run of bad luck. However, my range guns last much longer. NATO ammo is in fact +P. SIG made guns are lasting 10x longer than the Norinco ones on our range. We use WinClean ammo here.

SAAMI 9mm standard pressure loads are 35000PSI, +P 9mm loads generate pressures of 38500. Currently there is no SAAMI pressure for +P+ loads, however on a box of Speer 115gr. +P+ Gold Dot HP from my collection has a sticker on the box indicating that the pressure is 40000 CUP or 22% greater than SAAMI standard, which would be 42700PSI. These Gold Dots chrony at 1400fps and nearly 500fpe BTW. There is also a NATO pressure loading, which I am not sure if there is a SAAMI pressure limit, but would be probably +P or +P+, they are very hot loads, typically 124gr. at 1250fps.

Typical standard pressure rounds are 115gr. at 1150fps, typical +P rounds like Speer 124gr. +P Gold Dots run 1220fps, +P+ rounds such as Winchester Ranger SXT 127gr. +P+ 1250fps for example. All velocities are out of G17.

you can get 1250fps (5in barrel) with a 124gr bullet and still be under 35,000psi (not +P) Don't know what powder is used in NATO loads but it's not necessarily +P

btw what is with the 115gr in the NP-22? do heavier bullets don't feed well? cause you can have a light loads with a 124 or 147gr bullets

Would you be kind enough to tell me exactly which part on the frame of your Norinco NP22 broke?
I would like to keep an eye on that.
My German made P226 frame only cracked the slide rail ,right side, for about
an inch, and the slide-stop spring broke once, otherwise still very good shape.
The slide is another story. At least I salvaged the breech block, but really don't know what for yet.
After 5000 rounds through the NP22 no wear-marks , not even on the rails,
exactly like the German made one.

How come that 2 of my remarks listed here about construction of
steel slide (stamping) and other technical remarks have
disappeared and I get the "red dot" signal, that
"Globetrotter is invisible"
Did I step on someones foot ? Not my intention !

Are you certain that the post were made to this thread ?

YOU have control of the invisibility thing. Go to User CP at the top left of the page, click on Edit Options and un-check the first box.

Cheers.

My sincere appologies. You are right, I got "lost' under Pistol and Revolvers.
It's there.

Thank you for your help !
