Can someone suggest a good powder as a starting point for reloading 9mm. I am gonna start with my new m213 and eventually reload for a glock down the road.

I'm thinking of using the 124 gr FMJs, but if theres a better bullet, let me know

Thanks

231 or TG. I used HS-6 before but the loads are much higher for the same FPS (IE. 4.5 grains of TG would be about 6.5 with HS-6 so you get less loads per LB of powder.)

As curtmg mentions, it looks like pontcanna was getting a little bit of grief from his. I would advise buying only 100 packs of bullets until you find the one with the best profile for feeding in your pistol.

Also pay attention to your c.o.l., if the cartridge is too long, it won't feed right. I'll give Titegroup a thumbs up as well.

Modern Reloading 2nd Edition shows a load for Titegroup with 124 jacketed bullets starting at 4.1 grains up to 4.4 grains max load. Velocities from 1060-1135 fps. c.o.l. showing a 1.090 minimum.

This being said, I am not a reloading expert. Use at your own risk, although its data from the manual.

Thanks, I had read the post about puntcanna's problems and anticipated similar, but just needed an idea about powders.

Thanks for the help.

Titegroup uses a little less powder than 231 and you get great results. It burns fairly clean, too. Load would be anywhere somwhere around 4.0gr or more depending on the gun. Start low and work your way up until you get the best results.

231 is good too but uses a little bit more. It is usually available everywhere which is a plus. TG is sometimes sold out.
