9mm Reloads

Less felt recoil? 9mm Luger is pretty mild imho - try 10mm Auto or .44 Magnum for some felt recoil! If you want less felt recoil, you could buy a BB gun :d

each to their own, or each to their own purpose :p

If I'm feeling the testosterone at the range, I'll shoot my 44 mag. If I'm trying to shave seconds on a speed steel run, I'll run a light load :)

Guys, we are all gun nuts here and are familial with proper nomenclature. Why does this thread mention "projectiles" and "heads". Call them bullets. We all know what a bullet is.

A "head" is the primer end of a case. Let's not confuse the issue.

147's in a light load will give less recoil than the 90's and the heavier bullet will be more stable and accurate than the 90's hands down.

heavier bullets more stable, theoretically yes. I have tested 100gr HBRN, 124gr HP, 147gr RNTP, and 148gr HBWC in my 929 out to 25ym and there is no difference. It really depends on the type of shooting you are doing. Speed steel, is typically <20m so 100gr is fine, unless maybe you are shooting in hurricane conditions. For PPC 50m shooting I like the 148gr HBWC shot out of my Model 64 - just love them clean holes the wad-cutters make.

I just got a ransom rest to work on my 50m PPC loads. Maybe I'll run the 100gr, 124 and 147 loads at 50m too and see what happens.

For recoil - it's just math. The 100gr HBRN Berry's @ 900fps is only 90 PF or 180ft/lb of muzzle energy. The 147gr RNTP Campro @ 900fps is 133PF or 266ft/lb of muzzle energy.

I've used 90 grain Hornady XTP's with near max loads of 5.7 grains of HP-38 and 6.4 grains of Autocomp. Super fast noisy rounds. The rest of the time, thousands of Campro 115gr have been thrown away at high velocities without issues.

I have a bunch I would sell ...I need to check but I have a few hundred of the 100 gr Speer bullets .Send me a PM if you are interested in them.

You are 100% correct. Mea Culpa.

I have gotten away from using the term " bullet " as too many people use that name
in error, for the entire cartridge. However, that is not a good reason to make another
naming error.

Aboslutely nothing wrong with "projectile", as that's what the industry uses to describe "bullets". Unfortunately, (in my dealings with people) bullets have taken on the meaning of cartridge.
