9mm revolver

Smith and Wesson 929 all the way.

Yep, not a lot of options in 9mm revolvers. I had a 4.5" Alfa proj in 9mm. It wasn't particularly finely finished not did it have the world's best trigger. OTOH when I bought mine it was on sale for $420,not the $600+ they are now. It went bang every time, was reasonably accurate and I made about $30 on it when I sold it a year later.:d

Looks like Ruger makes the SP101 in 9mm. That would be an interesting gun but it looks like it only comes in a 2.25" barrel model. :(

Best option for revolver in 9mm for balance of price and reliability. Thank you in advance for advice

For plinking, I like my Alpha Proj 9261. There's a source for less expensive moon clips now, so you don't have to worry about thye $12/pc of the OEM ones.

For competition in IPSC, the S&W 929 is great! It's more than double the price of the Alpha Proj though, so be prepared to spend ~$2,000 by the time you have it all set up (trigger job, springs, moon clips, loaded moon clip checker, mooner/de-mooner, .....)

Can't go wrong with a 929....

When they get rid of that I might consider it. If the 986 was 8 it would be perfect.

And the JM branding. No doubt the man can shoot, but I don't want his name on my gun. I've been very close to buying one multiple times though.

So do ya have to use moon clips with those revolvers or are they modified so that they will grab the empty case when your removint them.

AFAIK For the 929 you must run with moonclips or else it won't fire with the 9mm Luger rounds. My Alfa Proj can fire 9mm Luger without using any moonclips but after a while the cases will start getting stuck so don't expect them to drop free. So far I have no problem pushing them out with a pen or screwdriver but I will just use moonclips whenever I can.

I think you can take that it off. I never took mine off though. I really doubt that comp is really necessary at all. It comes with a shorter non-comp attachment but it looks like you can take the whole thing off....

The comp isn't necessary, it's a 9mm revolver, lol. You can take it off but it will look like $hit:
