9mm TulAmmo impressions so far.

I never knew they were just in Thornhill. I wonder if you can just walk in and buy?

I just called the 800 number on the website 2 minutes ago and spoke with the guy. They don't have a storefront but the guy offered to meet me somewhere tomorrow. He seems like a super nice guy and very accommodating. I'm happy to give people like that my money.

Mine sticks to a magnet, the website says its bi-metal jacket. No issues with my indoor range since its lead core.

The website says they are Berdan primed and are non-corossive. It also says non-corrosive right on the box.

you're lucky, some ranges won't accept it even though it's a lead core because of the magnet test. Does the 9mm and the .223 both stick to the magnet? Which one did your range accept? I'm not sure what CRAFM policy is, because technically they should allow it if it's a lead core and bimetal jacket according to their policy, but does anyone have confirmation?

I have shot the Tula in .45 & .223 with no problems at all. Mtlcruisin the magnet stuck to the .223, I don't have any .45 left to check. I shoot at an outdoor range so it really doesn't matter. I will buy lots of this ammo in the future my .45 norc gov loves the stuff!

Has anyone noticed the 9mm is loaded pretty hot? I ran 100 rounds through my CZ-75 today and it was cycling the slide really hard (enough that if felt like it was bouncing slightly out of battery and then back in on the end of the cycle).

Anyone using this is an M&P 9mm and/or 45? Looking at a low cost bulk ammo for indiscriminate (non-target, fun only) range use....... read in another thread that this stuff eats your barrel?

I've sent 500 rounds of this down my M&P9, not a huge sample size but i can say it hasn't hurt anything at all so far. Shoots straight, seems hotter than other stuff but that could just be my perception.

I've had no issues so far, my M305, I have to resight it in again, not sure if it's because of the break down, new muzzle break or the ammo.

I did Email TulAmmo about the rumor of accelerated barrel ware, I didn't get an answer, that was 4 weeks ago.

Bi metal jackets will wear out your barrel faster.

I'm sure this is true seeing as how harder things wear things out faster, but can it be quantified? Are we talking about killing your barrel after 20 shots? I think not. Maybe it will wear it out after 20k vs 30k rounds (I don't know the numbers) ? I would think the cost savings of that many rounds would pay for a new barrel that would eventually have to be replaced anyways. There are a lot more variables to consider as well, such as rapid fire vs slow fire. A hot barrel will wear faster than a cold one. Just saying BI-metal will wear your barrel faster although I'm sure it's true, isn't the whole story.

Lucky Gunnar did a huge test on this. Four test rifles with Federal, Wolf, Tula, Brown Bear.

The steel cased/bimetal jacketed ammunition caused accelerated wear to the barrel. The barrel that shot the brass case FMJ had plenty of life left, even after 10,000 rounds at extremely high rates of fire, the Wolf/Brown Bear, Tula barrels were subjected to the same rates of fire and were completely shot out by 6,000 rounds. Also, the chrome lining of the bimetal test AR was almost gone from the throat forward. Throat erosion was pretty bad as well. Pretty much smoothbores.

Yes saving money on the ammo will offset the cost of the barrel. But people need to make an informed decision buying this stuff. I would only run this through a beater AR rather than a KAC or Noveske.

Thanks for the info.....

Took mine out today, definitely seemed a lot hotter. My fmk hated it, was sparking back and hitting the primer so hard thought it was punching thru.
My zastava m70a liked it just fine thou, so I'll do more testing before I make up my mind
