9mm vs. .40 S&W

Hey guys, I'm new to the handgun scene, is there much of a difference in either price and/or power between these two calibres? Thanks

Both make holes in paper and most other materials.

9mm is cheaper to shoot and handle.
9mm will make you an expert shooter faster.

.40 is heavier and more expensive.
.40 is for guys who need to prove their manhood to themselves and
people around them.

So far, 9mm killed more people than .40 did.

By your logic, maybe we should all shoot rimfires. Training will make you an expert shooter faster, not bullet size. Apart from that I'm going to let someone else rip you an new hole over your .40 cal comment. :jerkit:

While I don't agree with af's "manhood" comments, I agree with his comments on 9mm. The power and perceived recoil variance between .22LR and 9mm is much greater than the 9mm vs. .40 comparison. IMO, .22LR is an ineffective training tool if the end goal is a center fire round.

I shoot .22LR, 9mm, .40SW, and .45ACP regularly. I enjoy shooting the .40 the least. Although I will admit that probably has more to do with the gun (USP) than the caliber.

In my opinion, 9mm out of a Sig P226 is pure magic :D

I've never met an expert shooter.

This is probably one of the most ignorant posts I've read in the many incarnations of CGN...
