9mm what dies to buy?

Looking to reload the first time for a pistol, have loaded for years for rifles and want to know what seem to be the best bang for your buck for dies? I use RCBS or Redding for rifle but I keep seeing Lee come up with the pistols. Im also wondering what seems to be a good powder for 9mm's, used in a pistol?

I'm new to reloading but have been using the Lee 4 die set for .45 acp, comes with Lee's factory crimp die. So far I have been very happy with these dies and just ordered a Lee 4 die seet for 9mm.

As for powder choice for 9mm....I'll let somebody with more experience give advice on that, because I'd like to know myself.
 
I've used the 4 die Lee set for years. Carbide sizer and carbide Factory Crimp Die. Super quality dies make much less of a difference for handgun cartridges, pretty much any die set will do just fine.

Note that even with carbide dies, I give a quick squirt of lubricant to the top of the pail of brass, it makes it easier to size. Because the amount of lube is so tiny, I don't remove it, there really isn't anything to remove.

As above, Titegroup is my most often used powder, W231 in heavy loads.
 
lee deluxe pistol set with factory crimp die.
I use lee dies for 9mm, 223 and 300 win mag and 308 norma, never had any issues, will buy for 45 acp and 357.
why pay more, they work fine.
 
Whatever brand you want, but make sure the sizer is carbide. You really don't want to have to lube all those little cases...
I use 4.3gr of W231, Berry's 124gr, CCI small pistol primers.
 
Lee dies are all I have, 9mm, .357 mag, .45 ACP, and 30.06. 5000+ pistol rounds still working well. 231 and Unique for all pistols. Love Titegroup but can't find any right now locally.
I am at 4.6gr of 231 for 124gr Berry HBRN to meet IDPA PF. I am running out of 231 so I need to find PF load for Unique soon.
 
I am using Hornady dies for cartridge that I have no intention to reload on my Dillon presses.
I own Lee and RCBS dies, but Hornady are better finished. I like the bullet guiding sleeve in the seater die of the Hornady. On progressive press, you cannot beat Dillon dies for pistol.
For my rifles, I use exclusively Redding competition bushing dies set.

So to anwser your question, i will go with the Hornady but if you want the best - Redding.

Lee dies are just fine, I have about 10,000 rounds through mine so far and they are still good as new. As for powder, tightgroup for my wife, unique for me, and blue dot for my carbine loads
 
I bought 2 pounds of power pistol simply because the Lyman manual suggests they got the best accuracy with that powder with the bullets I bought. Haven't had a chance to test it yet though. I've read good things about PP, only downside most people stated was a big muzzle flash. Big what evs from me on that one.
 
Get the Lee dies. There is nothing wrong with them for loading 9mm. Make sure you get the carbide sizer die though. You don't want to deal with stuck cases or having to lube them.
 
I use power pistol with lee dies, works fine.
Don't worry too much. Buy some, reload 1000 rounds, then see for yourself...
 
I use Lee dies for 9mm and 45ACP-Bullseye powder, whatever primers I can find, and lead RN bullets - 124gr 9mm and 230gr 45ACP.

Both work extremely well.
