9mm: Whats the Best powder on a budget and basic plinking :)

Not looking to compete or hunt, just a simple range round to practice drills up to 50yard at most.

What powder can you all recommend, i think 115gr Jacket RN will be fine, cheap and simple.

What powder brand can u recommend... there is JUST SO MANY!!!!

titegroup is very good for 9

but if you want something versatile 231 or HP38 (they are equivalent) are as versatile as it gets. But i didnt find them to be the cleanest powders
 
The reality is, regardless of the powder you pick, the difference between the cheapest and most expensive will mean less than $10 difference per thousand rounds.

Don't worry about the cost, as frankly it's almost not a factor.

I'd concentrate more on a powder that is in the right burning rate range, available, and clean burning if possible.
 
I ran with unique forever, because I have it for my 45-70
tite group works great, I have 231 too.. Pistols are fun. go to the range and test a load with 50 to see what it does, how it feels... Go to the range with a rifle and it's 3-5 each load... less fun, more serious :)
 
If you're on a budget, try using plated rounds, rather than jacketed. I'm currently using CamPro 124gr RN, and when they're done, I have some Berry's that are cheaper.
I'm using 4.3gr of W231.

Rifles (carbines) come in 9mm too. ;) Now whether you want to use it to hunt would be your decision.

+1 to that! I would add good reported accuracy when used in your model of firearm. You may not be competing now, but you never know what the future may bring.
 
TY for all the responses, my ocal shops are very limited right now, so i was recommended Unique so i can use it for all pistols and shotgun rounds. So i got 1pound to start.

Tried to get Bullseye and Titegroup and HP38... All NOTHING :(

But TY for the heads up everyone :)
 
I use Unique for my 9mm. As with you, my local powder options are limited by the 'big little city'ness of Winnipeg. Not enough rednecks to keep a real gun store in business, not enough population to have selection in the few stores that do have gun related things.
 
Unique is similar to Universal Clays, buy whichever is cheaper, they both are dirty burners too. I also use plain Clays (not Univ.) and like it, it's shooting soft and fairly clean burner, low flash and very little smoke. The only caution - be careful with load development, powder is fast, use 115gr or 124gr bullets and watch for pressure signes.
When I find TiteGroup in volume and cheap, I'm gonna use TG. Avoid using TG with lead bullets or you'll get lots of smoke.

Universal burns cleanest as it approaches the top of it's pressure limit. It's a very safe powder to work up a load near the top end of the velocity range.

I'm working up a load currently with it and the 124gr BDX bullets.

I prefer N320 for it's clean burning, and very fine metering through powder measures.
