I have also decided to bring some modern 20 gauge hunting prizes. NOT TO BE FIRED OUT OF THE GUNS BROUGHT TOMORROW.
 
The annual award for Best Gun went to Adam Horodnyk, the proud owner of this perfectly restored Purdey Bar in Wood Hammer 20 gauge. The gun is spectacular. Standing in for Adam is our own Claudio O, who did the incredible restoration, along with some chequering by Chris Dawe.

Another great day spent with a bunch of very knowledgeable and extremely talented individuals. Had fun shooting with a great gent that had never shot skeet before but it might have been a story, thats how good he did!! Guns were stunning and AGAIN I learned a mountain of info about many things. Questions are always answered with great detail and history. Some members used guns that are over 140 years in age but still performed flawlessly. I was able to shoot a round with my A.H.Fox Sterlingworth 20 bore and did relatively OK considering Ive only shot it three times since acquiring it. It was interesting that Claudio recognized both it and my Perazzi MX8 Mirage. The gun community is quite small when we think about it. Very well done Baroc!! A big shout out to all the members that do all the legwork so that we can have a great day and reacquaint ourselves with each other. Great that Pinfire was able to show and display all the awesome BarNWood guns.

The bar in wood was my gun but it’s truly Claudio’s gun.

I haven’t seen the pics yet and want to see it with my own eyes for the first time.

Unfortunately (but also fortunately) I am in PA with my son for a lacrosse tournament and couldn’t be there.

The Purdey was a project that we started many years ago and I am honoured and happy to have had Claudio agree to spend the time to bring this grand British dame back to life.

To me this project was like “ok how do we win pebble beach” the gun equivalent of an Aston Martin DB5 at a concours. The gun was special before restoration. Then you add in Claudio’s knowledge and Chris Dawe doing the checkering and the gun has become something truly special.

I don’t even know how to describe how it feels to own such a gun. That I haven’t seen.

I can’t thank Claudio enough for his artistry and allowing me to own such a gun.

We knew that there aren’t many bar in wood hammer purdeys. And in 20 bore. Omg.

I will let you know. lol.

Perhaps we can get Claudio to tell the story of this restoration? This is his baby and I am just lucky to have been in the right place in the right time and have the same sickness as all of you.

Many thanks to all who attended! It doesn't work without everyone bringing guns to show and yesterday's assortment was fantastic. A plethora of Purdeys, an amazing Holland Royale, a gorgeous Greener two barrel set, a stunning Auguste Francotte sidelock (very rare) and many many more. Pinfire's display of Bar in Wood guns was visual;ly stunning. 19th Century craftsmanship at it's finest.

I'd like to in particular, thank Parkspipes (Mike), Mark Dube and Brybenn (Bryon) for their help is staging the Classic. Couldn't do it without you guys.

And to Chris Dawe (chequering), Craig Koshyk (author of the two volume set of books on pointing dogs) and Chris Logstrup (several flats of shells) for their donations of prizes for the raffle. Yoru generosity is valued by all of us....especially the winners!

This year John (Londonshooter) won both the chequering and the dog books, Alvero (Beretta1963) won the flat of 12 gauge and the winner of the 14 boxes of 20 gauge was Harold, a first time attendee who is a member of the Oshawa Club and had seen us before. He brought a fantastic assortment of mostly English guns, including one of the Purdey in attendance.

Ok Im old now and think much differently than I did in my younger years but its nice when you walk up with people youve only met once and realize how great it is seeing them again. Its kindah reminiscent of a family reunion. The checkering prize and books couldnt have been won bye a finer fellah. I had soooh much fun and learned a pile again through the generous time happily volunteered. Pinfires basically the Brittanica Encyclopedia with human legs lol. Claudio is ,well Claudio, master in many fields and a wealth of knowledge. We are all lucky to have many of the members we have. I applaud all of you. Cheers Chris
 
What a fantastic day. Much appreciation to the organizers for a wonderful event, congratulations to the winners, and many thanks to those who donated prizes. It was great to be amongst old friends, and to make new acquaintances. The Classic is a must-attend event! There was an incredible array of fantastic guns to drool at, and much to learn along the way. Dan (Baroc) and I are already looking forward to next year.
