9x19 primer hole too small for decaping pin.

Came across this as I'm trying to deprime, declutter and organize my reloading supplies.

Standard size hole on left

Small primer hole case is S&B NONTOX 14 9X19 headstamp.
Lee universal decap pin way too thick. Thought it must be Berdan at first.
Have close to 50 of them.

Yep I broke a couple of pins before I figured that out. Some S&B cases have tiny flash holes, the pin gets stuck in there and breaks. Too much hassle to drill so just junk 'em.

S+B brass is known for off sized primer pockets as well...........scrap.

Yep noticed this. Junk the puppies 9 m/m is easy to get. I have too many anyways. The old Lyman 310 decappers are smaller and will work but why bother.

I only reload win and fc brass in 9mm. everything else gets scrapped. I don't bother with other brands. too much hustle to sort them

I've have good luck with most commercial S&B brass. Really like their 32SWL brass. 8x57 can be very hard and need annealing.
Military brass would be the same with other Mil spec brass.

I bought 1000 rounds of s&b 9mm in Tenda sale last christmas. I have reloaded them atleast 4 times and have had no issues. Touch wood.
I'm not championing them just sharing.

Federal NT brass is crimped too, I just toss it

Just did a couple thousand pcs of 9mm brass and came across some S&B cases. I know when I have one in the press cause there's more resistance but I have either punched the flash hole larger (maybe the cause of the resistance?) or they are just harder brass. Knock on wood, have not broken my decappibg pin on my Lee universal decapping die.

If you breaking pins, you need to back of on the handle pressure and just throw away the small hole ones. I come accross them once in a while and can feel right way the resistance when decaping so stop and discard.

Change the brass you are using. Lots of 9mm once fired to be scavenged.
