9x25 Dillion

I know two guys with guns in this caliber. One of them has a 9x25 IPSC Hi Tech Racegun (which he never shoots anymore) and the other has a 9x25 standard gun (which he converted over to 40cal so he never shoots the 9x25 anymore).

It's a brutal cartridge; I found it painful to shoot. I wouldn't bother getting one. First of all, it's hard on the shooter, and it's hard on the gun. Second, it's expensive. 10mm brass is hard to come by, and you end up having to use large pistol primers. While large pistol primers are no more expensive than small pistol primers, I'm a bit biased because I only load .40 and 38 super, both of which use small primers.

I remember when Dave (RIP big guy :() would come out with his to IPSC matches, just brutal to stand beside. He brought it out to my indoor club one time, and like Rob says above, it breaks overhead lights. We lost 3 fluorescent lights to his hammering that night.
I loved it though, and wouldn't hesitate to get one just for the fun factor.

Total agreement with HB, plus some anecdotes;

A 9x25 shooter here used to say he's sponsored by his Dentist 'cause the thing would rattle everyone else's teeth. Especially with 115grs.

Great gun for sloppy gun handling too. The RO is too busy cringing and hiding behind the shooter to watch trigger finger or muzzle direction. ;)

When you shot it, you didn't get the blast as bad (just awesome straight back recoil) as spectators - there seemed to be "cone" out and away from the operator.

Well folks thanks for the imput, sounds like one hell of a gun to shoot! I have a Colt Delta Elite in which I shoot every once and awhile and I don't find the "10" to be that bad in fact with 175gr LSWC it's pleasant to shoot and it would make major with this load.

CRAZY

A guy here has one, spectacular to watch unless you're the RO (especially indoors).

I think the lowering of the power factor for open class has pretty much made this cartridge history.

The guy that has it does well but I'd like to see him with a major 9.
