___

If I remember right, it rotates out of the shield, and there's a clip under it that has a detent to hold it.

Give a good twist and it should slide out.

There is a rivet which holds the heat shield to metal half moon clip with the flanged out ends if memory serves.
This is what stops the heat shield from rotating (the flanged/tabbed ends of the half moon clip) which is/was riveted to the heat shield.
Drill the little rivet out and you will be able to rotate the heat shield inside the handguard 180 degrees then just pull it right out.
It's been a long time. I can't remember if the clip is under the heat shield or on top of it.
Drilling the rivet out should allow the heat shield to rotate 180 degrees then pull it right out.
Again it's been over 6 years since I pulled my old one apart to change the furniture for some custom wood and it was a CZ858. I just put a small dab of high temp epoxy under the rim of the heat shield once it was in my new custom furniture to ensure it didn't rotate while firing. I long ago sold her.
Post a pic if you can.

There are three variations of original UHG on VZ58/CZ858. One would require bending tabs, another one has just a spring under tension, third one I can't remember.
