As some forum members already know, I’m currently trying to track down an original Canadian-marked, 1944-dated Pattern 37 bayonet frog to go along with my 1944 Long Branch No.4 Mk.1. After spending A considerable amount of time looking for this item, I’m starting to think that it might be a rather challenging item to locate. I’m wondering if anyone has seen them available before, or if anyone has any idea of exactly how rare this item is? I’ve tried looking on the usual auction sites, and have been contacting stores and collectors, but have yet to have any luck.

Am I after something that I likely won’t find? I’m interested to hear other members’ thoughts.

Ink stampings, basically will have to be in mint condition for the markings to have survived. Out in the weather and wear will destroy the markings in short order.

As mentioned, unless you're able to find something in relatively mint/NOS condition it's unlikely the markings will be legible enough to determine the manufacturer let alone the date - if one was applied at all.

"Settling" for a proper wartime Patt. '37 frog would be the easiest thing to do.

I've noticed most of the webbing I've acquired over the years, other than the stuff that has legible markings - which usually make it NOS; the only way to even attempt to decipher the markings is to place the item in water and then sometimes the markings become a bit more visible.
