A 223 for the range. What to buy?

How's the magazine on the Ruger American? Are the latches on the polymer mags holding up all right?

I have an Ruger American Rimfire, but thought it would be interesting getting a bigger .223 or .308 down the road.

I'm about 1200 rounds in with no issues. The 223 rotary magazine holds 6 rounds, which is nice. I bought the rifle on a whim, but have been thoroughly impressed. Bought from a very legitimate buyer in the original box for $250 bucks. no complaints other than the barrel gets pretty hot after 6 rounds

Not sure if you are aware. The Ruger American and Ruger Precision share the same action, so a RPR is effectively a heavy-barrel Ruger American in a chassis.

I myself is a new shooter as well. And my first gun was Tikka T3x Varmint Stainless in .223.
I haven't reloaded for this, but Hordnady Steel Match in 75 gr, it shoots .75 or better if I do my part.

I bought mine when Wholesale Sport was going out of business. If I remember right it was around $1100...?

I just ordered a .223 heavy fluted barrel, bolt head, mag insert and scope mount for my Blaser to the tune of $2k. That Ruger sounds like a pretty good deal right about now...

Have a Savage thumbhole stainless in 223 with a Sightron scope has been very accurate out to 200 for me
