I'd never tell my wife but really, for all of my hunting needs I could get by with just my scoped 30-06 bolt action, 10/22 and a 12 gauge pump.
But this is Canada, I don't have to.
If I was restricted to a single firearm, it would be a .30/06 bolt gun.

You could hand load 110 grain or use Remington 55 grain "accelerator" factory loads (not sure if still available). I would stick with head shots in either case.To be honest, I have not tried the 30-06 for squirrel hunting. What bullet weight does the fellow at Walmart recommend we use for squirrels?
