I just bought a Smith and Wesson 586 silhouette shooter locally and I couldn't be happier...I've owned a Smith 19-3 and a Smith .22 and this Smith is the sweetest I've ever fired...Of course you have to like blued revolvers...I've also owned a Ruger GP so I get the drift...It is a soft shooter for both calibers....I like Blue because I don't want to be flashing off the sun out there in the bush or anywhere else.
As someone with both- If you got one and never fired the other I don't think you'd be missing too much! Both are great guns and great fun to shoot- you just can't go wrong no matter which you pick.
The Smith definitely has a nicer single action, but I personally prefer both the cylinder release on DA trigger on the Ruger. Both are much more accurate than I am though!
