I have recently come across a Browning A-5 mag 20ga made in Belgium that has the regular engraving pattern but with gold or gold colored inlay. Has any one seen this before was this a limited run done by Browning or a costom job?

no, browning used to offer both engraving and gold fill- ie a grade 1 bar would be the straight blued model, a grade 2 would have some gold inlay, and the grade 3 would be a full custom job- some have minature animals , and can go as high as you want- most folks have only seen the blued models, but i used to have a catalogue with the codewords for the factory to make the model desired- we're talking belgium here, not north america or japan;
this engraving, gold inlay and fillagree has been offered on the bar, a5, and hi-power afaik- there's also a renaissance model of the hi-power i've seen at tiffany level engraving- try about 4k - and it has both gold inlay and filagree engraving

You might be a bit off on the Grading levels. Never seen a Grade II Browning with Gold in it, especially an A5. And a Gr III is far from a custom job. There is an A5 book that lists and shows all Grades and options available on Belgium built A5's. Definately agree with previous poster, it is likely a home-done gold color fill job. You can even buy the stuff in a bottle to do it.
