I mean there may be the occasional opportunity to rest your gun and there is no rule against it, but it is a timed event.

Hey all,
This is a GREAT idea whose time has come!! I have been contemplating this exact type of match for our range hear in Edmonton for about a year now. Yesterday I found out who to talk to and will start the ball rolling soon. I am basing my thoughts on an article from the 6mmBR web-site. If you go there, look to the left side of the page; click on Articles Archive, search Rimfire Tacticle Match. This will direct you to a fantastic shoot that this fellow has devised. It would be very easy to use his ideas as a starting point then to change/modify to suit your range or set-up. As always saftety is a must but I think it is totally possible to get going with just a bit of planning and a few competant volunteers.

Old news .Shoot in Ontario 15 years ago. 150 steel reactive targets less than 2 min to complete or out. best time won.

I would LOVE to do this at your club or ours on the Island. I have recently started shooting .22s again this year after a decade. I decided to switch one day when I found that I could get a little savage mkII, scope, bi-pod, and four bricks for a total of 2000 rounds for exactly what I was about to pay on just the summers ammo and reload materials in .303 brit for my smle. WOOT RIMFIRE!!

PS: I know that Sturm-Ruger has been supporting events like this for years in the states. I think they call it "Ruger Rimfire Challenge" or "Ruger Action Challenge" or somesuch.

I consider myself very lucky, during the last 2 years I have been able to shoot at least 6-8 rimfire 3 gun action matches in Southern Alberta at various club matches. While a number of organized shooting disciplines might not like a category involving .22's, it is their loss. I've heard that the time taken to score a .22 match is longer than it would be to score one shot with a centerfire caliber. Horse-hockey! A hit, is a hit is a hit, patching takes the same time, irregardless of the caliber used. As time goes by, you see less and less new shooters at organized matches and I don't see a large change in the future.

I have seen many new shooters show up with a borrowed .22 rifle or handgun and have a "blast" at these 3 gun rimfire matches. Competition in this caliber is cheap as an "entry" caliber into club matches. These people come back to shoot additional matches, buy new kit and some evolve into shooting other disciplines. These days with all the distractions that our younger generation have, we need to start somewhere where they can get "hooked" on our sport.
