Yes ... its faster that way.
I mean there may be the occasional opportunity to rest your gun and there is no rule against it, but it is a timed event.

I consider myself very lucky, during the last 2 years I have been able to shoot at least 6-8 rimfire 3 gun action matches in Southern Alberta at various club matches. I have seen many new shooters show up with a borrowed .22 rifle or handgun and have a "blast" at these 3 gun rimfire matches.

Don't you mean 2 gun matches for .22? I can see rifle and handgun but what is the 3rd? My .22 shotshells are useless on steel, lol. That said I would like to try a rimfire rifle match as I don't have handguns anymore.
