Only if they had a broken and stuck firing pin which would happen on the rare occasion and in their parts kit they included a spare for this reason. I had one that did slam fire on occasion until on inspection I found the front half of the firing pin broken as the cause when I stripped the bolt. After I replaced the firing pin with a new one from a parts kit it soldiered on for about 10 years and hundreds if not thousands of rounds without another issue before I sold it.
As for the price, that is what military semi-autos now tend to go for. I remember buying a SVT-40 for $250 not all that many years ago too, how much are they selling for now?
