A bunch of IPSC questions

Bullets - Plated - Approx. CAD100.00/1000 = 0.1
Brass - Free from pick ups.
Small Primers - CAD28.00/1000 = .028
Powder - 8LBS[Approx. can make 8000 or more ammo] - Approx. CAD130.00/8LBS = 130/8000 = .016

0.1+.028+.016 = 0.144(Approx. 15cents):)
Thanks Glock.
I'll have to squad up with you someday and learn how to retrieve the brass! Listening to the thread I thought it may be difficult to do.
:D

Thanks Martin, great questions.
Can I ask another question?

For the rest of the group:

I am adding component cost to roughly = 75 coppers per shot.
Am I off target or is this what it will cost for ammunition only to shoot IPSC today?

i think you are high. my component costs for 38 super are as follows:

9 mm jacketed Bullets $110.thousand so $0.11
brass $200 a thousand 10 reloads so $0.02
primers $40 a thousand so 0.04
Powder $36 a pound 800 rounds per pound $0.045
Total= $0.215 a round

Is this what you mean?

"the rabble, the lower classes; the common people: The nobility held the rabble in complete contempt."

:)

No, its from Southpark. I think its the episode with the Mormon's aruging all the time....but they don't actually argue...everyone just yells "rabble!"

It was a pretty funny episode. :p

Thanks Walter.
Cost of Brass got me a little concerned , but if it is allowed to pick up after you shoot it makes me feel a lot better about participating in IPSC.
Over and Out and back to OP Bigbubba. Thanks.

People mostly won't pick up their brass at the match because their time are tight and the next squard will be up. We do our brass picking at our home club on your own time. For a normal Level I & II matches, you will only used about 80 - 150 rounds.

I pick up all my brass after the match is over, and I know a good 50% of the guys at my range do the same. Nothing wrong with it as long as you don't hold anybody up.

Well...we do it a little differently around here.

Typically if we know a squadmate wants brass a couple of us will pick up his brass and mags while the rest of the guys set steel and paste targets.

It is the same in Alberta. the squad picks brass. however if you are one of those who always seem to be busy doing other things when the brass is being picked it is amazing how quickly your brass disappears.

A few years back that is how it was done in Ontario too.

Really?

In all the sanctioned matches I've shot in Ontario...that happened...once.

I have only been shooting IPSC since last April but I shot IDPA before that and in all the matches I have attended, including 2008 IDPA Provs, 2009 IPSC and 2009 IDPA Provs we always helped pick brass for anyone who was saving them. Especially for guys shooting .45 or .38 Super - that stuff can be hard to find!

After all...why not? It doesn't long and I am always happy to help another shooter. :)

Yes, really.
Back in the early 90s it was the norm except at the Sudbury Provincials which I attended.
Patching, picking brass, gathering up mags was part of shooting in that squad.
Seemed courteous at the time.

Well...these days I'm just happy if the rest of the squad patches ;)
