As for me, when I stop to take a leak in the bush, I lean the rifle against a tree and in doing so I forget why I stopped !

I think I will get a decade out of it. I suppose some of it will start to peel in places eventually but its holding on fine now, though I porbably put a mark or two in it while hunting in northern alberta for a week in september, but It should be easier to remove and replace it with new stuff in a decade as opposed to sanding and resealing a wood stock I suppose. Its gotta be easier to remove froma stainless/synthetic if you change your mind as compared to paint choices, and I bet many scope manufacturers may void theur warranty if you paint their optics, so there is some big benefits to using this product over tape if your thinking about it.
Once snow hits I may try the plasti dip white paint, to see how well it peels off the mossy oak.



Kevan, you guys are funny, I think of Mr.Magoo stumbling through the woods with blind luck getting you back to camp at the end of the day.

Great job..... Like U said if the lil bits weren't still black you'd be hard pressed to find it after walking away from it! ..... And that's the true test.
 
Thanks guys, it was actually quite easy to do with a razor knife and about half an hour of my time. Figuring out how to put the acu trigger back together after having it apart for 6 months was more difficult then putting the vinyl on.

If you guys dig it, try it and post up.
 
I had a camo knife (with a black blade) once; laid it down after gutting a deer, and went shopping for a new knife the next day. Never again. My current knife has a bright orange lanyard on it.

You did a nice job on the rifle though!

Yeah, I hear you, I have a bright orange havalon piranta in my bag now actually. Although, sometimes the knife you like doesn't have the color options you want, but the game isnt gonna see a orange handled knife in your pocket, but camo knives must sell if they're making them, well I guess some folks go through a couple before they change their mind on what color they want.
 
This thread needs another picture. Coincidentally I had a camo nylon strap that my brother lent to me, it was the only spare I had and so was the one that went on the rifle, it pretty much matches the mossy oak. I also ordered their neoprene butt stock shell holder off of optics planet the other day in mossy oak, not sure if its the exact same camo pattern, but it seemed strange to order a butt stock shell holder for it that was flat black, on an all camo rifle.

Before I get any comments about "accessorizing" my rifle, the savage model 16's internal mag doesn't have a lot of room for the short fat girl it brought to the dance (.325 WSM's) it only fits one in the "chute" and a two in the magazine, so I ordered the butt stck sleeve

I bought a browning medallion xbolt and I was in need of some tlc got it all polished up but the stock had many dings and scuffs so I installed the mossy oak snow camo kit. the receiver has ornate ingrained so I didn't want to do the barrel and receiver so I just covered the stock. I couldn't be happier easy to do and looks great don't be scared to give it a try.

Hey Dave, it's hard to describe, I wouldn't say it's textured, but it's not slippery when wet, close to vinyl though, or close to the same texture as the accustock but a bit softer.

Moosey, it looks good on the x-bolt buddy!

BTW, I liked the camo but fell out of love with the model 16 savage, it was heavy, the large 5 round WSM mag protruded right at the balance point for carrying it, and the rifle was heavy, the 30mm vortex weaver rail and mag didn't help, so I parted ways with it, I shoot a walnut and blued steel rifle again but I did really enjoy the camo setup.
