The camping season is not over yet and I might get to go in a remote cap for a while.

we all know that is hard to hit what you can't see, not to mention the sanity and ultimately legality of shooting at an unidentified target.

I have a Rem 870 in mind for this task, and the shottie has nothing "commando/tactical" attachments.
What is a simple way to attach a flashlight to the shotgun?
One more request: kepp it simple and ... well... cheap.
A tactical rail with Surefire Aviator and presspad activator is neither my take on it nor is it included in my budget.
Thanks

Google search for
Streamlight REM 870 Tactical Flashlight Mount
Let us know how it works!

Headlamps are cheap for handsfree use.

LOL!! some very creative thinking here!!

You may want to have a look at some of the Tacstar (Lyman) alternatives.

You may also want to look at an LED type flashlight as I find that type of light give better deapther perception in the dark than the standard type, and need not be more expensive.

Further I strongly suggest that you test the unit before you take it into the bush. Many of the standard flash light will go "dark" after you fire a shot as they are not shock proof and the light bulb contacts get disloged.

While I have not done this my self, I understand puting a seies of O-rings of the appropriate arround the flashlight, then mounting it in the bracket may absorb a good portion of the shock, ah prevent the light from going out.

Just a couple of thoughts.

Totally go for the headlamp. Great LED headlamps at the M.E.C. Lebaron's, BassPro etc.. Canadian Tire... range from $30 to $120. They don't muck up your gun and make you look like a RAMBO wanna-be doofus (no offence intended to the Rambo wannabe doofus's out there, you guys are alright with me o.k.? Heh.. well anyways...) Plus you get the advantage of having the headlamp always point where you're looking (you'd never shoot where you weren't looking would you, plus you can see beads on shotty and such. Far superior because if you ever put down you shotty you still have light wherever you look.

If the flashlight is fastened to the barrel ,anywhere it shines is where the gun is pointed and where the shot will go. How do you safely check out where your wife and children are? How do you check the ground for trip hazards ? Just some thoughts.

I'll know where they are by the screaming, and if I run away, it will be most likely with an empty shotgun.:ar15: :dancingbanana:

Don't get the Tacstar. Shortly after I installed mine the gun bew out and went downrange. I think they're fragile if you ever plan on shooting.
